Will this 1970 911T break the 30K Barrier on Ebay ?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160120862614&ru=http%3 A%2F%2Fmotors.search.ebay.com%3A80%2F%3Ffrom%3DR40 %26satitle%3D160120862614%2B%26fvi%3D1

Item number: 160120862614

How many people think this early 911T will break the 30K barrier?

it's nice to see the early Ts appreciate. Perhaps I will hold mine for another 5 years and then sell for 40K..
Or just ask 85K OBO like the one of Hemmings.

The original Zenith carbs were re manufactured by Motor Miester of California to meet the "E" requirements ($1100.),
Beautiful pcar. Probably should have left out the bit about MM.

I don't think the bidders care about that.

If I read correctly, all MM did was the carbs for $1100. Sad considering they would have worked fine with the E cams as is (was).

Beautiful car. Love the color and originality. Sounds like the gentleman woke up one morning and decided to enter a concours event, and ended up doing rather well. I have a feeling another one is heading to Europe.

I really like this part..
"No oil leaks larger than the size of a quarter on my garage floor"

I should have used that one in my TR6 ad..

So is that a concours thing? I went to great lengths to eliminate oil leaks from my restored British cars... maybe 70 911's were SUPPOSED to leak?
if the car is judged, it is parked and not running. therefore no oil leaks.

It's a beauty. I'm sure someone will be very happy.

(Not surprised the restorer switched to a '72 bumper. Is it steel or FG? But SC door panels?)

It's a gorgeous car. However, a fanatic who wants original will be picky about the door panels, the steering wheel, the bumper, etc.. there's "original" and then there's Original.

Big difference between "Original" and "Correct". Neither is applicable here, but could be a nice driver.

I have found that the best cars are not always 100% correct or original but they are "tastefully modified". There are often Porsches that are modified well that sell more than the next guy that tries really hard to be original but does an average job.

Oh Golly Gee...better post this over on the S registry board. They LOVE talking about car sales prices over there.

I agree, but call them what they are, wrong terminology is tossed around too often and uninformed purchasers get stuck in the middle, my car is far from original or correct but I don't try to hide that fact, take the bad with the good.

As pointed out there are many things neither 'Original' or 'Correct' on this car. I can't figure out why a 'restoration' would lead you to this result. Just do it correctly. He doesn't post the score sheet but I am perplexed why a judge would deduct for dust on the jack when the jack is incorrect for a '70 911 along with most of the tool kit. The interior, as pointed out, has the wrong door panels (with speakers in them), no door pockets, no basket weave on the dash, wrong radio, wrong steering wheel, carpet kit is new but sucks, wrong seat belts. Many other things in the engine compartment and suspension are also incorrect.

If it breaks $30K all the better for the owners that have correct or original cars.

+1 on Brian's comments.

Something subtle in the description caught my eye after the comment about MM doing the carbs. They could not find records of the engine and trans rebuild, which raises the question, did MM also do the rebuild? Does it matter?--when the price moves toward $30K, I think it does.

The eyes on this board are able to cast a wide view as indicated by these responses. Ignorance is bliss, information is priceless and is essential to temper the "gotta have it at any price" fever that car buying generates. The more questions that arise, the more answers you need. That's why I like threads such as this.

Oh man I was so busy looking for the little details I glossed over a big inconsistency with this car. Check out the engine serial #.

It is a '71 2.2 'T' engine.

Good catch Brian, the seller mentions the original 901 transmission in the car - but no mention of engine originality. He obviously knows about the engine if he knows the trans is orig - but is leaving it up to the buyer to do the research.
