can anyone tell me if this 85 944 is a good or bad idea?

I Found a local 85 944 with 85k miles. The ecu does not work, the
diagnosis was that there was no signal coming from the ecu. The ecu has been swapped out with a couple of used ones but that didn't seem to fix it. I was thinking there is a bad relay somewhere. Can anyone tell me what is wrong and about how much it will cost to fix the problem.
Also won't it need a new fuel pump because it has been sitting?

Another thing the price of the car is $1200, I know that is a little high can anyone tell me a reasonable price for this car?

Heres a link: http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/car/366356647.html

Thanks,
J

its an early model 85, and if she was sitting she will need more than just a new fuel pump. It will probally need an engine timing along with a new h2o pump at about 1500 if done in a shop, new spark plugs and wires, distributor cap, new fluids, oil change, drain the fuel tank to get the old and bad fuel that is sitting in there, maybee new tires. Thats all i can think of for now, but do a search on what you need to do with a car that has been sitting for a period of time. If you want or can do it, i would ask for a price reduction due to all the things i just listed. It looks like a nice car, early 944 with 85k on it, leather? Id say definetly get the price down 500 for a none running car, or for sitting, shouldnt-be-ran car. just my 2 cents. definetly do a search, many other people were in the same situation.

Get ready to literally pump $$$$$ into this car. Consider motor mounts, timing belt, oil cooler, cooling fans, etc, etc, etc. Parts for these cars are not cheap and a shop will charge a premium for repairs because its a PORSCHE. The 1985 was the older model. The 1985.5 had more refinements, improved interior and a better car. When asked I always advise folks to get an 1985.5 or better.

dme (ecu) relay ($30) needs to be replaced as well, that sends a signal to the fuel pump. relatively easy fix. go for it, they are fun cars.
