3.6 conversion on Ebay in 79 SC

Seen this 79 sc with 3.6L conversion on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280142776014

debating if good deal or not and if wife will shoot me if I bring it home :-) would sell mine as i figure can get least 10K for my stock SC and then its only 5k more for this beauty.... otherwise I see its like 15K to do this to my car then it still would not be as nice as this one i can pick up for 15K then still have my car to sell!!!

decisions, decisions - any guidance?

Until there is a DYNO sheet, I don't want to hear of 280! Stock US SC in '79 was 180 din/ 172 SAE. A 1994 3.6 from a 964 was rated at 247hp. 964 "cup" cars are rated at 260ish hp. Hard to believe this one has 280hp. Not to say a 250hp SC isn't a fun car, but the claims seem a bit high to me.

Not sure what your use would be, but, if I had a 250+hp 911 I would want larger than stock SC brakes. I would also want an updated suspension.

Car sits too low in the front imho.

Buy it Know price is $17, not $15.

i agree brakes and suspension may need to be addressed but if it had upgraded brakes and suspension I think price of car would also be over 20K. I talked to this guy on phone - the hp estimate I thought was conservative actually. And your idea of dyno would test the HP at wheels not flywheel... as the 250hp rating porsche puts out is not a dyno run testing at wheels but a bench test at flywheel - When asked about the HP gains he said stock 964 hp rated at 250 included a very restritive exhaust that included a cat converter and muffler - he say both the cat and muffler are eliminated - then he also said there an aftermarket chip in car (to help idle + performance) plus the stock air cleaner replaced with aftermarket - we talkin 30 hp at flywheel and I thought what he did would be 30 hp easy... I going to take it for drive tomorrow am....
