1999 Boxster value

Any opinion on a 1999 Boxster with 114,000 miles. Engine was replaced at 30,000 miles due to the catastrophic meltdown that sometimes occurs with these engines.

Asking price is $14500. Car is supposed to be in good condition. I don't know what to make of the higher mileage Boxsters.

Thanks!

So.. it has approx 80K miles on the motor. 114K on the chassis.

Think about any used car that has that kind of mileage. Unless documented, there is a good chance the car will need wear items replaced - wheel bearings, clutch, shocks, rubber bushings, brake pads/rotrs etc.

Without record of recent service history, I would say $14,5 is overpriced.

I am not sure there is much know about a high-mileage boxster. Yes, they are out there, but perhaps not owned/driven by the traditional Porsche guy (nee 911). How many owners? Any accidents? How the top? Paint? Interior wear?

I think for $14,5 you could find lower mileage examples.

I almost bought a 2000 Boxster S a few weeks ago, located in Louisville, KY, speed yellow, well maintained high miles car with 107K miles, new clutch. the car sold for $13500.

+1 on Racer's comments.

That's a NICE price for a Boxster S. That's going to be the next "best bang for the buck car," very soon. (Or maybe it will be the low-miles 996's that are starting show up in the mid twenties??)

I miss my Boxster S--NICE car, but I couldn't stand watching it depreciate!

I agree that the Boxster is the next great value Porsche. I personally am waiting for good, low mileage "S's" to drop below $20K and I think I will be buying one.
