Value of 15x7" Fuchs

Hi all;

Whilst browsing the classifieds for a pair of 15x7" Fuchs, I came across this ad from a few weeks ago;

I notice that these 1973 15x7" Fuchs are going for a higher premium than other 15x7"s, which recently have been going for ~ US$600/pair.

Why would the above pair be so valuable?

Did these 'earlier' 15x7"s come in a rarer offset (perhaps more suited to narrow body cars)?

Or are they identical to later 15x7" wheels, but just priced more highly bec they are genuine longhood wheels?

They are identical to other 911 7 X 15s. Some would argue that the date codes make them correct for an RS, and RS prices are continuing to go crazy. For those folks, the '73 date-coded Fuchs would be worth a premium. But the factory kept ordering Fuchs for upgrades to 911s -- they were on the option list for 911s, and were also -- of course -- sold in the OEM aftermarket for 911s and 914-6s.

There are two crowds it seems to me for the 7x15 fuch. One is the 911 crowd. They pay more for some reason. The 944 crowd (which used 7x15s for the 944CUP/Nasa cars) seem to sell them for much less. Just need to shop around

Date stamps (early) are certainly something the longhood crowd is concerned about. Others don't seem to care as much.

Along those lines, and not intended to hijack, what are the going rates of the 944 7JX15 Fuchs? Is there a discernible difference? Are they an identical fit as the earlier 911 7J's?

I ask because I'm looking for a set of unrestored 7J's. Thanks.

944 7x15 Fuchs are identical to 911 7x15 fuchs. But see, most 944 guys don't have lots of money, unlike the stereotypical 911 guy, so they sell stuff among themselves for good values, vs the overpriced 911 world

That said, if you are restoring a '73RS you want a wheel with a correct date stamp. For most others, date stamps aren't as important.
