SC Weissach sale price, well used condition?
I am thinking of parting with my daily driver, 1980 Weissach coupe. Solid car at about 120K miles. All the right updates, (e.g. tensioners, pre '74 exhaust, terbatol cooler, H4s, 150 speedo, full tranny rebuild 5K ago by local best P garage). AC taken off. 7&8 15 Fuchs painted body color. The paint is not so good, PO respray is probably a 6 out of 10. What do you think a good starting asking price?

There was a point 5 or 6 years ago where there was some renewed interest in the Weissach model. Haven't seemed to have seen that as much recently. But I'm sure there is still some interest in it.
911s with bad paint are a very, very hard sell. A regular 80 SC with 120K miles, no rebuilt engine, and bad paint is around a $9K car. Maybe add $3K for the Weissach, that'd be $12K. To get $12K, you'd have to ask $14 to start. Clean it up the best you can and start around there, would be my guess. |

Zot--
I'm trying to sell a car right now and it's tough. I think it has a lot to do with the area of the country you are in, type and number of cars available to potential buyers, season (perhaps it's easier to sell in spring when buyers see spring, summer and part of fall for potential driving), phase of the moon, whether the month has an R in it.... My car is a clean, 82 SC, 91K miles, folder full of records. Original paint, redone leather interior, runs great (excellent leak down/compression), backdate heat, H4's....yada, yada, yada. I started asking 14.9K 3 months ago, now down to 12 and it's not selling. These cars are, at this time, and easy buy...hard sell. I'm not willing to give the car away. I have now adopted a: "Sell as you drive" philosophy. I'll keep trying to sell, not get frustrated/upset and drive my car and continue to enjoy it (I love driving this car, just want to experience another Porsche). Remember, there are only 2 issues that affect buying/selling: Time and Money. If you have time, you can get your price (somebody will come along who sees the beauty in your car). If you have to sell quick...you're at the buyers mercy. Hang tough, be strong, have another beer for me (I'll have one for you). Good luck, let us know what happens. Alan Stark

Yeah I was thinking around 12K final price too. I bought the SC to make into a PCA club racer three years back and decided it was too much of a good driver (and unique) for that application. As you can see from my signature, I have way too many old 911s and need to cull the motorpool. Plus I have started to get the itch for a Cayman S (oh the humanity!). I understand the seasonal nature of selling too, definitely an issue here in Colorado too.

SCs are very undervalued, considering what 2.2 liter Ts are going for. Almost anyone shopping for a traditional air-cooled, torsion bar Porsche will be better off with a 3.0 or 3.2 car, but the mostly imagined advantages of the pre-74 cars draws higher prices.
I say, hold on to your SC if you like it. If there's long term value in traditional 911s (a big if), then the SCs and Carreras will come around on price. |

1980 Porsche 911SC Weissach Special Edition Prices
Bill,
I have been capturing for sale ads of 1980 Weissach coupes and posting them on my website. There are priced as low as $9500 and as high as $29,500. There is an active ad right now in Reno for $24k. Good luck selling your car! Jeff http://www.my911weissach.com |

The only new cars selling right now are hybrids. The car market is in a turmoil over gas prices.
Car dealers are having trouble selling even used Boxsters with good gas mileage. It's not a good market to be selling.

Well I decided to make my Weissach SC into Club Race Car. I know it s**ks to do such a travesty to "rare" car, but I need an SC to replace my recently destroyed SC clone. As for what is selling right now, well one datapoint, I just bought an Audi A3 2.0 and beats the h*ll out a steekin' appliance toaster (Prius) car for driving experience. I just wish Audi would import their TDIs. YMMV
