1970 911E Value

A friend of a friend has one that he is considering selling. It is a bit far away but I wanted to get an idea of its value before I make the trek out there.

3rd owner...has owned it for over 20 yrs.
Repainted Black...was originally tangerine
MFI replaced w/carbs...still has the MFI though.
starts up and runs fine...
spent its live in a garage so not much sun damage to interior.
Original SoCal car.
probably has around 90k miles.
a few small rust spots near rear window.

He wants 15k for it.

What do you guys think? Thanks!

For a "driver" in need of some attention, and without pics, $15 seems like a good place. PLEASE dont get swept up in the "all early 911s are worth 30-100K. Its embarassing. Without a professional review of the car (and the possible, likely hidden rust on a 37 year old car) any internet opinion is conjecture.

Negatives: 1) repaint 2) The original MFI is not installed. MFI units can cost Thousands to get repaired and working properly. 3) Need to know how the battery boxes are, front pan, rear window shelf, longitudinals etc.. If there is already "a little rust" on the car, figure what you see could be only 10% of all actual rust.

Plus: low mileage. An "E" is a great car - 2.2l.. 140ish hp and only 2200-2300lbs.

Thanks for the response...Definitely good things to think about. I might make the trip out this weekend with a camera to take a look.

2.2E produces 155hp
They are nice motors with good power, especially with the 901 gearbox

Tools.

In addition to your camera, take a screw driver and a magnet.Take the headlights off and look for rust.Get the car up in the air on a lift and see the pans and suspension points.Pull the carpet off the front and rear areas and check there as well.Bring a flash light to see these areas.Pull the batteries to check for acid leaks. And that`s just for starters.Get a PPI!---------------

Check the door bottoms for rust as well.

The HUGE plus will be the tangerine after you repaint.
