thinking of selling 911 to get a vette
Heres my problem, I'm starting to get tired of the porsche. I have a 69 911 with a euro 930 motor and trans in it. I built this car about 6 years ago from nothing. The car is pretty fast but I want something faster. I don't really feel like spending $20K to get the power I want out of it. I'd like to have both but just can't really justify having both. I really don't know what my car would be worth either if I decided to sell it. I found a 2000 corvette hard top for $18000 I like and I think for another 10k I can be in the 600-700hp range. I think the porche has alot more "cool" factor, I'm just getting tired of constant tinkering etc with the porsche. So, help me decide. Thanks guys

My vette is fun sometimes but my 911 is always a blast to drive... so I hope you reconsider.

Sell the Porsche, buy the Vette, you can always sell the Vette and buy a Porsche (again) later

A Vette will require just as much tinkering and will never be as reliable as a 911. Don't let the numbers fool you, Chevrolet horsepower (good for tractors) is not as good at 911 horsepower (for fast cars). Sounds like you just need a bigger turbo!

A '69 911 with a 930 engine and you think a 2000 Vette is faster? My 3.6 swapped 1980 tore away from a C5 on the interstate when I was on my way to a AX a few months ago.
I cannot imagine how quick your 911 must be. I think you will grow tired of the Vette pretty fast and you'll feel like you made a huge mistake. Although tinkering with the vette will net you more HP per $$ than the 911. Vettes are like dirt they are everywhere and that translates into getting power mods cheaper. Good luck as far as what your 911 is worth I have no clue, a lightweight turbo car? You might have to wait until the right person comes along wanting that exact setup. I think your 911 is fantastic.

Those wheels are crazy interesting, man.
If you're not happy, you're not happy. If you do the vette thing and wanna come back, I"m sure you'll be able to build your next 911 better, faster, and cheaper; so why not?

I had three vettes and I loved all of them. I never had any reliability problems with any of them. Parts are cheap and easy to find. My 64 was a 440 hp small block and ran great. My last one was a new 2001 Z06. You can make them scary fast without killing your budget. Having said that, I am new to the Porsche but I am enjoying my 911 immensely. Mine's not turbocharged so its not that fast but it has enough power and is a blast to drive. Do what you want to do, you can always change again.
