1987 911 Cab Value.
Low mileage well maintained 3 owner car, all services up to date. Guards Red and Black. The first owner owned for 10 years, 2nd owner for 1 year, I have owned for last 9. The car has 48,000 miles. Most 1987 options including sport seats. Stereo has been updated. 2 sets of Fuchs wheels polished 6&7s and chromed 7&9s. Wooden MOMO wheel and shifter. Old school look. 48,000 Patina, wear on driver side seat and door pocket but otherwise in great shape, not a garage queen, exercised regularly. I need a price check?
![]() best picture I have at the moment w/ chrome 6&7s.

The closer to stock these cars are the more money they bring, but your car seems nice with very low mileage and your mods are very easily reversible if someone doesn't like chromes and the wood items.
1/3 of the US market is buried in snow, so a chunk of buyers are "off line" right now on red convertible Porsche's, but once March gets here, I bet you could see mid $20's on this car. It's Guards Red, a convertible, and a G-50 car - all good things. The low mileage really helps put more value on this car. |

Thanks for the help. I need to get the polished 6&7s returned to stock finish. I have all the other parts including the radio.

Luke, Keep the wheels on the car. They look great. And I am not a big fan of 80's guards red cars. |

Thanks for your input but sub 20 I would have multi buyers/flippers hovering. This is an excellent condition 48k car w/ minimum mods...

Luke, you're right in that at $20k, I'd even buy it and flip it in spring for a $2000 to $5000 profit. No disrespect intended Jeremy!! A high end dealer like AIC Auto would most likely ask in the very low $30k's for this car and may find a sale in the upper $20k range. The 48k on the clock is the big deal here since that is getting to be pretty low mileage for a 20 year old sports car.
Once March rolls around, this is easily a $24k to $26k car if you market it nation wide with a good ad and good pics. Jay 90 964, 84 3.2 Last edited by Jay H; 01-03-2008 at 06:21 PM.. |

I am more talking about the time period = and btw I bought my cabriolet (at 42,000 miles) for 19,000 in the winter in chicago.
People don't want to buy convertibles in the winter. Or motorcycles, or pool equipment. If you want top dollar - wait till the spring - which is all I am trying to say.

It doesn't sound like it is in good enough condition for 25k IMHO. It also had too many owners for prime $. I say 20k private party. You may get more if you have time and put some effort into getting it into perfect condition. But that will be an expense too. My improvements for getting higher dollars would include stock wheels, redone seats and door pockets. There can't be any oil leaks and the engine compartment and underside will have to be detailed.

Apples and oranges....You could also buy a 30,000 mile or less 996 for the same money as a 80,000 mile 993.
I should clarify....This car would be considered in TOP condition very well maintained and complete. I just bought a set of 70s recaro sport seats that I am having restored for my 73. I have a keen sense of value and less than the mid to upper 20s I keep it and let it age like wine. Thanks for the input. It is very helpful w/ my decision making. L.

I'd get a stock wheel and stock shifter - get the 6's and 7's refinished to stock look - Buy some new tires for the wheels -
if the stereo is flashy - replace it with a more generic looking (I have a blapunkt in mine that looks pretty period correct - but it's new)

I guess I am just disappointed when you hear 175,000 mile G50 cabs going for $15k to $17k and you have a low mileage original that can not break $30k. I need to post a picture with the 7&9s.....the car looks good.

Luke the market is pretty flat -
If the economy tanks (like I think it's headed that way) more 3rd cars go on the market - which drives the price down for these babies. If you want top dollar (and I would consider upper20's to 30's top dollar) wait till the spring, make it as original as possible - then pay John at AIC or sloan cars a commission to sell it. - but be prepared to sit on it awhile (especially if the ecomony takes a header). Just my humble opinion - (and I would love to see you get $30k for your car, and my next door neighbor get $850K for the house next to mine) ![]()

I really do not want to sell it but the project of completing the 73 3.2T I purchased has become a bit more financially demanding than anticipated. I just hate giving it away and in my mind $25k is giving it away. The car if sold will be offered in the spring.

Apples and oranges. If you sell your 87, do us a favor and come back to this thread and post the sale price.
