What's my 1972 911T 3.0L worth?

Extremely solid body. No signs of past rust or damage. Very nice, but older paint - very few minor flaws - mostly a couple of cracks in the rain gutters. Has light weight interior with OMP race seats, roll bar, RS type door panels, rear seat delete, radio delete, Simpsons harnesses, MOMO wheel.

Engine is 1982 3.0L with 915. Runs very strong. Headers, no heat (have original heat exchangers/muffler/blower) CIS is well sorted, Webcam cams. Large Patrick Motorsports oil cooler in front bumper. Suspension seems mostly stock. S aluminum calipers. Through the body front sway bar. Early turbo rear spoiler.

Rear crossmember replaced with later version. Unique custom rear bumper. Crossmember is still in primer - previous owner planned to add flares and was going to paint it then. 15x6 Fuchs. Needs tires. Has salvage title due to theft.

Consistently finishes around #10 out of 35-45 cars in autocross.

Versatile car... trackable, showable, and streetable.

Hi Lee,

Firstly, nice car, I'm sure she's fun to drive. It appears to me that a modified 1972 911T is worth somewhere between $12 - 15k. I don't know what the salvage title would do to its potential sales value, however.

$25K is way on the high side for this car as described..

Appears to have: Deco delete, window trim painted black, way-too-wrong mirrors, as stated stock suspension, and too much "tail" for narrow body car.

I'd say closer to the $12k range as the average buyer will want to make changes and upgrades.

At $18K and up there are just too many other choices in P-cars that will far out perform for the money.

Don't take it the wrong way.. I think the car is sweet too!

If you really want to find out... put it up on eBay with a high reserve like $35k and see what the bidding ends at. You'd have to pay some ebay fees but that would really answer your question as to what the market will bear. And if it sells for $35k then consider yourself lucky.

Check out the autocross results I posted... they suggest otherwise.

I like that idea... this '70T got bid up to $14600:

Mine's a bit more original, but of similar flavor. If you add up every penny I've spent on the car I think it comes up to just under $17K. I'd like to think it'd bring at least $15K if not more.

Nothing in particular... I'd like to find a C2 that's rough around the edges and strip it of all excess weight.

Don't take that the wrong way as I straddle both sides of the fence on this topic. I've been driving, racing, restoring, selling and repairing P-cars for almost 30yrs and I love my early 911 (73S).. but depending upon what area of performance you are talking about my statement is still true... for the money.

As far as autocross is concerned.. a lot of the results in this "performance" is driver input. I've seen many an early 911 take on better, more expensive cars and win. For that matter, you should see the faces on the hot shoes (911s included) when I take FTD in my $1,200 74 Lotus Europa TC...
