Weber 46IDA-3C,,,valuable?

If a pair of Weber 46-IDA 3C's could be found in new, never used condition how much would they sell for? I found some company in England with 'good used' ones but USD exchange would work out to $6,000 plus shipping.

Ewww 46's could be worth quite a few bucks NOS. A set of PMO 46's is in the $3000 range ($3600 with rain hats, linkage, etc.)

It depends on condition and if they are the original made in Italy ones. A Nice set sells $3-4K. Can't really compare US prices to European ones right now given currency valuations, obviously one of the reasons so many car and parts are crossing the pond.

I do know someone with a set of 46IDA-3C's he's had since 1989 and stored since then. Which he bought from a company; OTTO PARTS a Corvair business, PMO calibrated for 3.0L Porsches which were in his store since an estimated 1980. They are new never used, never bolted down, no gas flow thru them since PMO's calibration. He does not have the original Weber Boxes they came in, but he estimates the value at just for the carbs at $7,500 to as much as $9,000 which includes some New never used manifolds he thinks are really 911 manifolds but say Corvair Connection on them (they require machine work to Corvair Heads to get them to fit, but should bolt right on to Porsche 3.0L heads). NOTE these are in NEW condition. He's looking to sell to someone doing a restoration of a street or race car that would require a correct Weber set.

pu911 I'll check into it and see if they are the Italian made ones.


Has Vent Tubes rather than Vent Screens and does not say Made In Italy. So Must be Late Casting, Made in USA.

I have a pair of 46 IDA's with manifolds purchased at the factory in the 1970's. Used on a modified 69S for one year. Been on my shelf for 30 years.

These are THE hot ticket for the most extreme GT3 Corvairs... highly desirable (though I didn't think as desirable as the prices here quoted... though I've only seen a set or two sell ever...)

I ran a set of 40's on my GT3 Corvair, but I did not have a compeitive engine and had no need for anything more radical... even a set of 40's combined with slant tube exhaust stack radically alters both the power and behavior of a Corvair mill... well worth the effort...

Those are beautiful. They are not original castings though. That's what mine are and what I thought you were talking about.

Thanx, yours were a good reference to see what original Italian ones look like. Do the manifolds look like they would fit 911 heads? But manifold wise those would be easy to fabricate since there is no water passages or EGR.

These are like my friend said Late Castings rather than Vent Screens; Vent Tubes no E then W on it so most likely made by the US company contracted to make them I believe Carter carburator made. Has literature from PMO about the calibration and proper set up, saids tuned for 3.0L Porsches.

I am new to this forum and have a set of slightly used 46IDA3 carbs. They are on a rebuilt Corvair motor that has been run marginally in the last 20 years as the car has been a project car for that long. Made in Italy. They have very few hours on them but probably need a rebuild from sitting. Any suggestions on the value of these? I see a set of four NOS ones for 11K on Evilbay. Are they really worth that much (2500-3000 each)?

I talked to my Porsche guy and he said they would be too big for my 2.7l in my 914-6 thinking I could use them there and replace my old 40's. I am thinking of selling them instead.

Any suggestions, comments?

If anyone is ever trying to date 46mm webers. Check this forum for associated weber dating threads. All the issues (landmarks to look for) are the same with 46's as 40's.

Thanks for the tip. I look at mine and they are cast with the "made in Italy" and look to be the old style.
