Value of my ’70 911 T ???
I think I used to have a general idea but with the economy and housing market I’m not so sure anymore.
I’m trying to get a ballpark idea as I will be selling or trading for a sunroof coupe. The car was originally purchased at Don Burns Porsche/Audi in Garden Grove, California. I purchased it from the original owner about 5 years ago. It has been in southern California its whole life. It has just over 100k mileage. The car is bone stock except for a re-spray in the ‘80s and the front seatbelts. The car was originally silver and is now a gold color that looks good from 10’-15’. The Marelli distributor was replaced with a Bosch and has MSD and a Crane optical pickup but I still have all the original stuff. The bad stuff is that it needs paint and all new window rubber, 1st gear synchro is bad and it has rust on the front pan. I purchased a replacement pan from Restoration Design and if I can find it, it will go with the car. The good is that it has driver & passenger factory Recaro sport seats, S appearance package, all 5 original deep dish “06” wheels, original tool kit, luggage straps, manuals and service booklet. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I understand the rust is an issue but to the right buyer this is a $20 to $25k car. The seats alone are worth $5000.

US economy sucks now but the Euro is strong. Price it around 25K and see what happens. If it gets down around 20K, call me.

SocalT ,I think right now with the market influences (real estate, stock market, economy, etc) being what they are if you subtract from that 25K figure a 7500.00 paint job and 2500.oo pan replacement ,barring any additional unforseen rust damage...you'll be a lot closer to a reasonable
purchase entry for people looking for this model 911. 12,500 if your really in a hurry to move it, any more and it will sit till the markets recover.. thanks Bert

This car is a major project.
The rust you can see is most likely equal to the rust you can not see. It is complete +, it is a '70 +, it has sport seats +, it is a T ~, it will need a bare metal repaint after all rust repair -, at this time unknown motor condition ~. A very solid driver T will sell for $25K. This is a project and when you look at what it will cost to bring it to driver quality it has limited appeal. One way to look at it, you are selling sport seat + a project car. So $5K plus the car $6k-10k. You could also part it out: seats, wheels, engine, gearbox etc could bring more than as a project. This is nuts...Ts w/o motors and rust selling for $6000 to $10,000.
It seems people on this board love their cars for free. Has anyone looked at the prices on early cars today? This car is a 2 owner, original, complete and beautiful but it has about $5000 worth of rust work needed. Get over it. Do you have any idea of the European market presently? How is the interior? Any cracks on the dash? Door panels are they in good shape w/ pockets complete? To the proper buyer, the one who sees the value, this car is worth good money. I would market it on a better forum for early cars.

Post it on Early 911S Registry. Value is in the eye of the buyer based on what they want to do with the car and how much $ and sweat they are willing to put into it to have what they want. If it is worth $25k to you that is fine but dont tell me what it is worth to me. I tried to answer the question asked based on my experience, no intent to offend anyone. Luke ,no intention of offending you but your dreaming, the guys on the early reg will tear this car limb from limb to get it down where it makes sense!
Ok ,its got deep sixes, sport seats and what else? A certificate of authenticity? Allright..so be it, It still has unseen problems and expense that those who've done complete overhauls don't look forward to getting into unless payoff is clear. T's are coming up but not fast enough to get this one out of the low teens as is. And the euro and brit buyers aren't stupid ,they're currency is just much stronger and costs are higher for everything over there porsches included. if he were to sit on it till the market resurges,yes..but it may take a while..just my .02,thanks Bert Oh ..and if you think its worth 20-25K ,give it to him!

Again, no offense taken this is a marketplace discussion.
This car would easily clear 20k in parts. Bumpers, overrider bars and bumperettes in the pictures I would give $2000 for. I can not find them in that condition and Porsche [Stoddard] would charge much more. I paid $4200 for sport seats that were not as nice. Did I overpay IMO no because the week before I lost out on a set for $4000. Both sets needed repair. Does this car have a tool kit, owners manual? Two owner well maintained car I assume so. Value $750 minimum. Those components alone I would give $6750 for. I could also use the rear deck lid $500.....deep 6s $3000 nice....wonder what shape the door panels and dash are in. If the interior is by any chance in nice shape there is another $5000 I would be willing to pay. I appreciate your points but to me the reality is the early cars and their parts are becoming very scarce and as I am working on a early car I realize and appreciate their fair marketplace value. Excluding the rust this car appears to have been owned by a man who liked his P car. To an intelligent buyer that also has value! Our Pcars are special and we should understand that. We seem to be so willing to undervalue until it is time to replace. Here is my math; car $20,000, rust repair budget $5000, paint $5000. I would have a very nice T for $30,000. High priced but hardly IMO unreasonable. I wish I could buy it myself. It would make one nice driver.

I just sold a very nice T, with a drivers sport seat. Excellent straight car, no rust, ran and drove excellent, conda green, Full S package, about as desirable as T's get. No offence to any of the posters here but that is NOT a 25K car it would take the better part of 15K to get it there.

Phil,
Your car was a screaming value. How long did it take to sell 1 or 2 days? No way it was under priced by any chance? These cars are becoming scarse IMO. This is a nice one being hindered by the word rust. L.

I don't get this seat value/issue. Does anyone believe a sport seat can't be made today that could not be identical to an original? How do you know they are not copies?, not this guys but in general? I have inspected Ferarri bodies that were hand formed with a hammer and English wheel. These cars could not be more perfect. What about the brothers that have the Pols making aluminum Cobra bodies? Stunning. This smacks of the matching engine number on muscle cars.......Oooooooooo matching numbers. It is all B.S., these guys are so good now they can fake cast iron raised numbers and letters on blocks and transmissions. And someone is going value a pair of seats for 5K? Please
Phil.....you are spot on. Mike.

Thanks for the responses.
It sounds like it might be worth repairing the rust on the front pan before selling. I’ve been over the car pretty thoroughly with an ice pick and can’t find any other areas of concern. Also, I forgot to mention that for valuation purposes the drivers seat has bolster wear and may or may not need to be completely redone. For those that PM’d me I probably won’t be able to show the car until the beginning of next month due to work travel and then vacation. Thanks again for all the feedback. More pics……….. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I agree fix the rust. It stigmatizes the car and diminishes it value exponentially. I would also get a hold of Tony at autobahn as he is local to you and get the door panels and dash repaired. Its a great car! Are you interested in selling the M5 also?
