I saw the car at Heshey too. He was asking 3600 for it, right? I don't think it is a bad deal if you had a 914 you wanted to turn into a 6. But if you want a 911, that is about the most expensive route you can take.

I did see the car run out at Hershey. I didn't dig that deep into it though.
Seems like we are in agreement. You say part it out for a profit, I say use the parts on a 914. Essentially we are saying the same thing, don't rebuild this car, use the parts from it. Rebuilding that car would cost you more time, money, and effort than buying a really nice 911. Having parted a car out once, I would strongly urge you not to do it. If you add up all the hours it would take to; take the digital photos, send 100's of emails, find boxes, package, and ship. You'll end up making less than minimum wage. It is fun taking the car apart and learning about it, the part that stinks is selling and shipping the stuff.

actually all I am saying, the $$$ he was asking for it less than it is worth. and no matter which route you go, you can't get wrong. I have seen rollers being offered for duble the $$$ here' on Pelican. so I am sticking to my opinion that this price is STEAL no matter what anyone will do with it.

I was actually the owner of the car (which sold at Hershey) and I think at lot of people missed out on this deal. Sure the body was rough but there was a ton of great things about this car; duck tail, fiberglass rear bumper, drilled rotors,
good wheels and new tires, remember the thing ran and I actually drove the car! Plus whatever other parts you could pull off of it and sell. Realistically someone could pull the motor and get half of their money back, you don't get much for $3,600 in the 911 world. The car should have sold immediately, a sign of our economic times I guess. |

It was, but what I enjoyed the most was do this with my seven year old son. We both made the long trip to pick the car up and get it running again, then make the trip to Hershey and try and sell it. His enjoyment came from starting it up for everyone to listen to the Porsche that won't die! Showing a young person now matter how old they are that hard work and perseverance can pay off it what it is all about and why not do that with Porsche's. When I let him shift from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 and so on in my 89 Carrera, he has a smile on his face from ear to ear; teaching him right! Anyway an old friend told me a saying that goes like this,"your reward is commensurate with your effort", someone that everyone should remember no matter if it is school, work etc.
Thanks again for all your help! |

I saw the car running at Hershey, and I saw your son having a blast! Lucky kid to have these experiences. The car fired right up, no smoke, idled ... it seemed very solid to me.
