Euro RUF 930 comments and value

Hi,

I am looking at a (I think) 91 Ruf 930 just imported from Europe, and it looks to be in nice condition (not my color though). I just wanted to know a few things, if a true RUF what is the best way to track it's lineage? assuming is has a RUF VIN.

As well what would a reasonable value be for one with 60000 KM?

I am playing tag with the owner but I hope to have more info tomorrow I just want to get an idea, I'm guessing around $60K CDN, but that's a rough (no pun intended) guess.

Let me know,

Thanks

Sounds very cool please post pictures when you get it [or even if you don't].
RUF has a store down in Houston. See if they can link you to the factory.

Hello,
I see that your are up north but any info you can give about this car would be appreciated as mine is a 91 Ruf and I am getting ready to bring it home. I bought mine for the low 20s from an American civilian who was acting an ass towards me and the dealer in Kaiseslautern. After we found out that he "Had" to sell the car we walked away until he came around and then we offered bottom dollar. He go the money he needed and I got the car.

Jimmy,

I thought I would close out this thread with my info. I posted in the Canadian forum and one of the other PCA guys here (Calgary) told me had had checked out the car. So after a phone call I got all the info.

It is a RUF built in 1991 on a 79 SC tub. The owner had the paperwork from RUF and it was 129,000 marks worth of work (Ouch). It looks exactly like a 91 turbo, with the flares proper 5 speed Porsche (not RUF) tranny, and the torsion bar tubes were done correctly. The engine is a 3.2 upgraded to a 3.4 with EFI and dual injectors per cylinder. It has RUF wheels, a matter cage, upgraded brakes (Brembo I think) RUF gauges, Boost enhancement, older style Torsion bar suspension and extra oil cooler in the front.

The negatives; the owner has about $60K CDN into it and I think he wants high $40's. The guy that looked at it said it needed some body work as there was a sign of bondo in the roof that had shrunk and some issues with the weld joint on one of the fenders. The owner said he had a missing problem with the engine that a local guy fixed, but it's hard to say how long this was going on for (turned out to be it needed race gas for the boost he was trying to run), so I'm not sure of the state of the engine. It does not have a RUF vin or plaque.

Going in I had the figure $33,000 CDN in my mind as a reasonable price and it would take another 3-5K to get her in excellent condition. I think the car might be good for the right person, but I think the owner may need to realize he will never get what he has into it and lower his price. I will keep my eye on it, but I was really hoping for a barn find story.

Sounds like you got yourself a great deal!

The pictures look really good, but still too much for my budget. The best picture.

Cheers
