87 coupe value question - 49k miles
I have a REALLY clean 87 carrera. White body , 6+7" Fuchs with Guards red centers. Black Leather & Sunroof. F&R spoilers. Driver power seat.
The good: It has 49600 miles on it, No dents, dings etc. very minimal rash (hard to see with white).Paint is very very good and I believe to be original. Less than expected interior wear. Its been service to death by a local specialist for the 6 years 23k miles that I have had it. Bought from a Porsche dealer (without much prior history/service recs). STOCK (except for brake coolers/drilled rotors). All speakers replaced to stock size/location. Has a fresh NJ 2 year inspection sticker. Really reliable. A great looking car. Not quite a time warp car, but close. The Bad. Needs tires Havent charged the AC in 3 years. Thats It! The scoop. Its been fun, I have been doing PCA DEs and not abusing the car, but looking to bring it up a notch and not sure if I want to start hacking up such a nice car with the usual mods (exhaust, chip, suspension). I have been pondering for a while, but not sure of the $ gap to get into the 993/996 DE car. Thoughts on quick sale vs top dollar price? ![]() |

Wow, tough call. Since I'm in the market for just such a G50, I'll share my observations.
A nice low mileage 87 could command $26-$28k (if you're willing to wait). Unfortunately, those willing to pay that for a car will be turned off by the fact that it's already been tracked and the wheel color, which is obviously not stock. I'd say quick sale price would be in the $23-24k range and high end would still be around $26k, maybe a bit more for the right buyer. But I was looking at an 88 with 40k miles on it. The guy had it for sale at $28k for over six months before he finally moved it. Good luck with your decision. BTW, I'd be interested in the car in the lower price range. Again, because I'd be a bit concerned with the car being tracked and I'd have to repaint those wheels. |

As others have pointed out it all depends on how long you want to wait. The Wheels are no big deal they're a cheap and easy fix. As far as a few DE's go IMO thats no big deal either, these cars were born for that. The market may be a touch soft right now depending on who you believe and we're not exactly in the buying season in the north east, but in todays world the whole country is your market place.
If you post how quickly you want to sell it I could give you a better idea and possibly have some buyers, also what part of NJ are you in?

1) The red wheels rock. Love it as an accent color on a White Car.
2) White cars are fastest ![]() 3) Drive a 993 or a 996. They are very different - heavier, powesteering, less challenging TTO concerns, abs etc. 911 guys are particular. Most fellas who have had/owned/ded/raced an aircooled car can't imagine driving anything else. Those who love the watercooled cars tend to NOT like the earlier ones. Others may be "faster" but may not be more rewarding to drive The 996 is VERY different from your current car. A 993 a little less so.. A 964, even a little less different. 3) I know many folks who have had a car like yours, moved to something newer and regretted it. Its an intangible. If you feel your current car is too nice to cut up, believe me, someone else may not think the same. They may think.. man what a great basis for my race/project/backdate car ![]() Sure is a tough situation to be in ![]()
