72 911T Targa (Euro) value
I just pulled a 1972 Targa from an estate and found out that this is a Euro car with Zenith carbs, the car is original and straight except for one repaint from the original Aubergine which I will turn it back to the original color; 76,000 original miles. Any idea on value? There were not as many Euro models made as compared to the US version so it makes it a little more interesting I guess.

a very worthy and feasable investment with a good number of plusses.
+1) here's one that Europeans are gonna step up to as the are fond of cars in Km and that were originally owned/delivered in Europe. They are very eager to bring one "home" so to speak. +2)I also have received feedback from my European customers, that they indeed prefer carbs as originally delivered for driveability although MFI models still reigns with collectors. however they are suspicious of Euro cars as they may have lived a rougher, year round daily driven utilitarian life... often are more rusty than cars in the US. Our cars (in the US) where we have what now 4-5 cars per house ![]() +3)the winning color combo also is a plus ...Aubergine and beige interior +4)Europeans love Targas unlike we Westerners that happen to often frown on the Targa cars,( well with some reasons, if you like HP and to drive alot and fast, Targa bodies twist and whistle in the wind, you need a coupe with a cage for that) +5) a 1 year car always is a little more special dependng on the level of restoration that it receives and if any provenance validates this car... I estimate between $28K to $45+ market willing |

funny turn around on this car(low mileage garaged aubergine 73S above)...
first saw it around Aug 06 on Ebay from a seller in Oregon... he had a very nice yellow 72 sunroof T MFI I was considering for BIN $ 17500... upon checking this sellers other items, I saw he had the 73S car above with a BIN of $25K tho not running and sport seats needing stitching.... a seller in Fla..I think bought it and it resurfaced in Nov 06 all polished up and in good running order as seen above for the $31K when I was thinking of pulling the trigger ![]() ....a couple of weeks later I think Jan 07 it was offered at BIN $47K ![]() ![]() ended not sold with reserve not met at $40K....damn I missed it twice...the first time I wasnt ready at $25K...31K wasnt too bad either Last edited by 914agogo; 10-04-2008 at 05:50 AM.. |

The vin# is a euro vin and the engine# is one that should have had carbs, also there was a drivers manual in Italian (I think) so it all adds up to a euro car; thanks for your input!

hey Eric, what are you doing trying to sell that POS here on this beautiful site called Pelican ??
Don't you know you need to know what to sell it for vs. slimming up the community here asking what to sell it for... ;-) ;-) ONLY KIDIN' I wish I had the $$ to buy this and the $$ to buy a 3.6 to make my dream cars!!! Good luck with the sale and cleaning her up... someone will be buying a beautiful piece of euro history here from you soon !!! Better make sure the wifey really insists that you to choose what to sell and what to keep... I wish I was in your shoes man :-) See you soon, Bob

Wasn't really trying to sell it just figuring out what a Euro was worth since I haven't dealt with one before; a 73 911E coupe and a 72 911T garage finds in one year, not bad!

I'd say great for 1 yrs finds !!!
I would believe that the above poster w/ the ebay info is best case sceniaro... however, with the credit crunch going on now, I would believe it would not yield as much selling price. HOWEVER, we are dealing with a valuable and sought after commodity here... but still a bit less than the ebay figures is my opinion. Enjoy the process of fixin' and driving... tough call on which car to sell... glad I don't have to make the decision... Best of luck! Bob

Almost a year later and this is how the 72T Euro in Aubergine is looking, windows out bare metal restoration. Now I am finishing off the interior and small bits here and there, what a ton of work!

Eric... your attention to detail & your stick-to-it-ness has certainly paid off BIG TIME here as the car looks fantastic!! I would know as I have seen this car in the flesh and it is stunning!!
Time for a run to Plymouth to go fishin' BOb
