How best to ship seats internationally?
I have a set of early sports seats and a potential buyer in the UK and another in Australia. What is the best way to send something like a seat overseas? UPS? Commercial shipping service? Any advice would be most welcome. Michael

Some advice.
Most important is to try and find what courier companies operate in the other countries. Then use either that company's US counterpart or partner. Having lived in remote parts of Canada it is invaluable to have someone knowledgeable about where the shipment is going to. Too many agencies simply ship to the capitals and beyond that you're hooped. Secondly, try and fit the shipment down to a standard shipping size (UPS, FedEx should be able to tell you). Anything beyond standard sizes starts playing havoc with aircraft cargo compartments and rates go wonky. Even if there's lots of dead space that requires packing materials its usually best for everyone involved. Third, think about packaging. Start with making the shipment safe and secure and free from damage. Then think about the shipper and guys loading / unloading. Making it easier on them will significantly increase the chances of a successful delivery. jb |
