Hello all,
I am seeking your opinions regarding the value of a 1993 964 C2 coupe with 35,xxx miles. The good: 35K miles. It is pretty clean, has been resprayed and it looks alright from a few feet away. The front seats have been redone. It starts easily and drives strong. The owner is a physician who lives out of the country for half of every year and has several different cars, thus the low mileage. The bad: salvage title. According to the owner, he bough it from a dealer in the mid-90s at ~20K miles and it had been hit in the rear. I had an experienced body shop manager that I trust look it over and he said that he could find no evidence of frame damage or body panel replacement. His opinion is that it sustained minor damage at most and the owner got his/her insurance company to buy it. Other negatives: tail motor missing, so it does not move up or down. The owner just leaves it half-way up all of the time. Cracked dash, some rust bubbles on the A-pillar. Needs new tires from age-related cracks. Cosmetics overall are okay but not great - tail lights and black trim are faded, it obviously hasn't been always garaged. Owner says he will get the sunroof and passenger window working again prior to sale. Not much by way of records. Obviously I will have a PPI done before making a final decision, but assuming that the engine checks out with good compression, what is this car worth? Thanks in advance! |

I would probably question the claimed 35k low mileage if in fact it has needed seats redone
and a complete repaint, also faded light lenses and trim. all the nigling parts missing componentry not working signals poor reassembly from accident or theft. It could be a very nice car ,yet poor records and fit and finish will rapidly diminish a valuation. you'd be stunned at how easily a speedo can be switched...trader220 is probably not to far off at 12.5k ,under 15k easily.... particularly for a salvage branded title...hell, clear title 50k C2's are going in the high teens!
