Jeezus!!! I never thought my '99 would depreciate so quickly. Probably dropped 10k in a year. Maybe I should switch to a Cadillac for my daily driver;-)

11K is ridiculous!! Even with disposable engines the 996 has to be worth more than the price of a used pickup!

In an almost two year old thread - I am predicting the 996 is the new 928. Looks like I will be correct?

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=323482&highlight=928+depreciation

Of course, in the same thread I said that the 993 will hold it's value (dollar value, not adjusted for inflation). That may not be true currently.

A 54,000 mile 2004 C4S cab sold on ebay by a dealer for $33433 (no reserve). I was the high bidder until about 5 seconds before the end of the auction. The auction ended Christmas eve, so the price may have been a little depressed as a result. But this still seems cheap to me. Right now I think the 996 is a tremendous value. Here's the auction link in case anyone wants to check it out.

Take heart. Perhaps the winning bidder won't come up with the scratch. Great car at an incredible price. Looks like a reputable dealer as well.
