72 911s
There was a post about this car a few weeks ago, questioning it's value:
At the time, I believe the bids were in the low $70K and now it is relisted. Does anyone know if the car reached the reserve or if the high bidder didn't come through. Just curious. ![]()

$79,000 did not meet reserve. Here is a thread on the car.

Excuse my ignorance with these beautiful early models, but it looks like the car has two fuel tanks, one on the front driver's fender and on the rear passenger side. Is this possible?

No. What you see on the right rear fender is the door to the oil tank--a one-year-only modification on the 72 911. It is something that makes that year unique and especially interesting to early car fans. Personally, it is my favorite early car for that very reason.

The car was bid to $79K the last time and to $60K this time. What's going on here? Did the market for the car dry up that fast? Shill bidding the first time? If it was only a couple of grand difference I could see it, but an almost $20K difference in a week or so is beyond my comprehension. What do you think?

Thanks L.J.
Very interesting. There is something about those longhoods. Personally, my favorite year for the 911 is 1974. I like the new bumpers that came out that year and the rear reflector. What I would give for a great looking 74 911. (But I do enjoy my 86 911 Carerra coupe!) Leo |

Here is my two cents worth. I think the interesting thing here is the gentleman listed it. I would think a car that putatively is this nice and this rare coming on the market (especially in Southern CA) would sell simply by word-of-mouth if its asking price were truly commensurate with its value. It seems the market has spoken and determined the value to be around $70K today. Who knows what it may be worth a few months from now as high net worth individuals continue to lose asset value.
Yes, this is the same reply I posted on the other thread pertaining to this car ![]() __________________
