356 Values
While at the monthly Cars & Coffee in Calabasas today, I saw (among other things) a beautiful bali blue 1965 356C coupe. My interest has been almost entirely in 911's, focusing on early cars of late, but something about this 356 just made me weak in the knees. The seller has the car advertised locally (http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/1004217945.html), and it looks better in person than the photos - although the car's parking spot adjacent to another Pelicanite's lovely leaf green 72 911 may have had me drunk with lust. I'm curious what the range of market values is for a 356, and what are the nuances that affect value for a 356.

for a non special 356 the 65 is the last and most highly valued
prices on nice ones are insane and getting worse converts speedsters and racers are even more so the main condition issue is rust rust and more rust then numbers matching and custom, odd , or weird parts if that car is as the ad said it is about right maybe even cheap !! |

I've always had a soft spot for the 356 and the one mentioned is truly a beauty. I agree with nota that the price is very reasonable for that car. One thing I have notced recently, also, are the large numer of 356's coming on the market. Seems to be many more than usual. Is it just me or do others notice the same thing?

That car is priced very well for what it is. You just don't find them with that kind of originality going..
Most have either been restored or over restored, some utilizing many after market parts. I see why that car had you lusting!

Yes I had watched that one too with lust ........ It had been repainted once and had no real paperwork to support the mileage but overall condition seemed excellent from the photos I received from the seller. He started out at $58k and steadily dropped to $46.8 then a sold posting on the Samba. I am patiently looking for a nice 356C too and there definitely has been an increase in cars coming out of the woodwork. A sign of the times for sure as prices will stagnate for a while until we see sighs of prosperity return. A buyers market for sure.
