That -65 911 in the classified section

Hi,

I have followed that -65 advertised in the classified section for some time now, but I'm not sure enough of a value for the car to make contact. It might be over my spending limit, and in that case I'm just waisting both our time. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Johan

Is this the 65 you mention?

If so, he does post an obo price but if you mean "over my spending limit" to be your costs to bring it back, then you are looking at a five figure amount. I have no connection with the seller nor knowledge of this particular nor its potential value as a restored 65. This is just my opinion based on restoration costs of cars in similar condition.

be wary of outrageous claims of potential value like the ones quoted in the ad.
I agree the very early cars are drawing attention but not that kind of money.
maybe if it was one of Ferry's own car or a well documented original survivor in exceptional condition.
the guy who started the website to find the long lost 64's is selling his 64 rare bird fully restored with documentation for $60000 and is not sold ...yet!

his way cool 901 website:

Well, it's mostly the purchase price that would interest me, or if anyone have had a look at the car. I was there a month ago, buying my lovely -72 T Coupé, but unfortunately this one wasn't advertised then.

I've only restored lwb early 911:s before, so I'm not sure what I would get into. Guessing a ok restoration will be around $30k, if the engine and trans isn't a total loss.

The swb's are nice, very nice, even though I love a hot rod 911 more. But interests can change with age....

I have enough cars to restore for the next few years, but I need something to do in 5-10 years as well. I would guess a car like that wouldn't loose a dime in value.

So, any ideas?

Thanks,

Johan

-69 T Targa
-72 T Coupé
-86 Carrera Convertible
-73 T Coupé (forest wreck...)

PS: A pic of my -72 T....

I am the owner of #300170 and I would like to inform everybody that the above mentioned 60.000 $ is fiction. I have offered my car (on the large German website www.mobile.de) for 135.000 Euro, which is 175.500 $ at this moment. If you want to check the car on this website, then select the '65-'70 period, because it is filed there (since I do not expect people to select 1964 when seaching for early 911's).

And there is nothing wrong with Seinfeld, but there is something very wrong with his car and the way Porsche has performed its 'restoration' , IMHO. What we are looking at now is not the first 911 and Seinfeld probably did not know until I revealed it. I tried to contact Seinfeld and Cabiglio long time ago, but since they did not respond I published my report on my website. And does Porsche sue me for this whistle blowing? No, sir...

my bad, missing a 1 in front of the 6....$160.000 is what I meant!(BTW it was 3rd party information, I couldnt find a price on your website to confirm.)
its an
outstanding car and restoration however this is not the object of your usual Porsche owner, a museum grade rarity is not something most of us are aiming for.

I did not sense any hatred for Seinfeld in his expose, only observations that led to him uncover a peculiarity about JS's car.

How many cars out there that have been restored that have a checkered past of rust, accidents and major reconstruction...rarely is it disclosed...so its not news that people do this covertly for financial reasons. However now with the internet its a lot harder to get rid of information or known facts.
There is is a car for sale currently for big money but sellers dont disclose a known fact about this car, in the past, it has been totally wrecked and the rebuilt from 2 cars. If known, do you think that would affect buyers and the price??? you bet!

65

I went and took a look a this car and had cash on hand at the time he had it listed on Craig list for 10k o.b.o and he would not take an offer. All of a sudden it shows up here for 15k o.b.o I guess he brought up the price by the amount of interest there has been. I am not sure if he really wants to sell it.

I am not sure how much it is worth, but I know I want it!!

I also know I don't have the time, room or money for it right now.

I think it is sold and his asking was far more then 60k USD. I'd say that it's more a EUR 80k+ car (i.e. >100k USD)
