Looks nice from the pictures, fairly priced. I would post on the Early S Registry for their opinion. I am sure someone will look at it for you or knows the car. A friend recently bought a sporto from them. It was a pleasant transaction. I can hook you up w/ him if you would like.

The price probably reflects the metallic green repaint. If the car had not been color changed, this dealer would have asked more, without a doubt. They are 10 minutes from me and I can look at any car they have, since I'm (for the moment) unemployed...

For this dealer to sell an 911S so cheap there must be some issues. They have another 911E on the same site for $59995.

I do not know about that. They sold a very reasonably priced RS [is there such a thing?] and as I previously said a sporto to a friend. I just think they are in tune w/ the current market. I will also state w/ confidence that both buyers felt the cars were much better than represented. It could be a crazy marketing strategy.... sell cars for what they are worth.

That's what I thought. And usually on Es, not Ss. No biggie, just curious.

I stopped by and looked at it. It has some surface rust, rusted jack point, gaps are off and a few other items that are obviously factored into its asking price.

I feel my friend (the interested buyer) would be far ahead by finding a car that's in better shape and paying a bit more.

What is the price trend on these? I know they shot up to the stratosphere over the past few years. Any softening in prices? The dealer, for what that's worth, stated they are down about 5% from the peak.

It has Koni struts. I don't think any true 'S' could have the 'comfort package' as that would prevent the use of the 'S' brakes?

I'd say they're down more than 5%. (By the way, how do you even measure as complicated a market as collector cars by such a precise amount: 5%?). Anyway, I'd say top tier cars--of which there are very few-- are down maybe 10% to 20% or so. Driver level cars are down more, maybe 25% to 30%.

There were a few Ss equipped with the "comfort package." This didn't interfere with the S brakes as all Es came with the "comfort package" and had the same aluminum calipers as the S.

Hmm, are you sure all Es had the comfort package? I am the second owner of a 71E with the Konis and 15" deep 6 fuchs. The PO told me it was all original.

I suppose anything is possible as the factory was very willing to cater to buyers' wishes back then. But I've never seen or heard of a factory-produced E with anything other than the hydropneumatic suspension. They failed early and often and were almost always replaced with conventional shocks. Maybe the PO simply forgot the particulars of converted shocks.
