Value opinion on a 77 Euro Carrera

Looking at a 77' Euro Vin Carrera Coupe. Nice car, one repaint in original color. Car has a 76' euro carrera engine in good working condition. Is this car anything special like a 74' or 75 Carrera or just another grey market car. Any input or insight greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

IIRC, a '77 Euro Carerra would have had a 200hp 3.0l CIS motor (a precursor to the SC motor) The '76 Euro carrera should have had a high compression, MFI, 2.7 with about 210hp

The genuine 76 Carerra motor is worth more, because it is an extension of the vaunted "rs" motor introduced in '73

To me, a regular "euro" 77 carerra is not worth more than an SC. Condition is everything with these older cars. Look for rust. Repaint (why?). A "euro" car has the potential of having been exposed to salted alpine roads (unless you know the history of the car).

Actually the 76-77 3.0 Carrera's have gained a following over the years, just like the rest of the Carrera's the values have increased. Do check for rest like many of the Euro cars they were driven hard and hung up wet. These are much rarer and do offer more performance than a garden variety SC so they are worth more.

Question along the same lines as the first post... my roller is (going from memory) #9117601212 ... I'm scratching my head a bit as the serial number indicates it's a 1977 911 carrera 3.0 coupé ... but the number plate indicates SC.. at any rate it's a blank slate as far as I'm concerned as some one worked it over as an RSR like conversion... ( missing original engine) originally Minerva blue metallic now adorned with a bad guards red job.. so it has rear steel rsr style flares. I'm collecting engine bits working toward a twin plug turbo 3.4L ( most recent direction was on the NATO clone slant)... but should I find another tub and try to restore this thing back to a 3.0 coupe? probably too much work.

I found the above site where it looks like people are starting to hold these things..

anyway.. enough project car thinking for tonight.

Hi Mike,

Do you know the serial # of the engine? Yes, having a '77 3.0 Carrera with a 911/83 engine would make it more valuble, if in good condition, than a matching #s 3.0 car (IMHO), but certainly not as valuable as '74-'76 Carrera 2.7.

Heck, a correct 911/83 motor from a '74-76 Carrera would probably be worth around $20K by itself.

A Carrera 3.0 does have an SC plate indeed.

This thread discusses C3.0 pricing as well.
