If you knew a car to be a turd...

...a car that you had in your ownership a year ago...and you called the dealer who has the car now and told him the same...but they refuse to tell buyers the real story, what would you do?

buy the car back to save the others from the pain of owning this car.

what can you do? did you sell the car and disclose it as being a turd? and do you you know if the problems the car had have not been fixed.

explain your turdness about the car. what was wrong with the car.

we need more info

thanks ed

I (via a law suit that went for 1.5 years before settling a week prior to trial) and another Pelican a year before me returned this same 1989 930 to the same owner for the reasons below. It now sits at Kuni BMW in Beaverton, OR http://www.bmwportland.com/webdetail.aspx?iid=4360189 . I called and told them about the problems but they continue to mis-represent the car to callers and have stopped talking to me. Not shown is the welded-up hole in the bottom of the transaxle. None of this stuff was mentioned in the PPI which I also paid dearly for. Tell me this is a $48K car and I'll go away.

VIN: WP0JB0934KS050418

Let it go.

From what you posted, the "problems" seem to be from careless body/paint work. The fix in the tranny could be an issue and should be disclosed, IMO. You sued and won by default, sold the car, and its now out of your life. Any potential buyer, thinking of paying full price, should see the faults and negotiate accordingly. Given what you've shown, I wouldn't call the car a turd but would certainly question the asking price, and that's what car-buying is all about.

Put the VIN in this thread.

Send a registered letter to the dealer with the facts -- nothing but facts/no 'opinions' -- on the car. The next buyer may find this thread and have recourse with the dealer.

But realistically, best case scenario is that the car gets wholesaled off and somebody else gets stuck with it.

All kidding aside... see my other thread...

I just bought a 1988 930 that looks to be in better shape... for $7000...

Wow... they are asking quite a bit for this car, eh? Some nice frame damage there too? Carfax was clean? No accidents?

Update:
Spoke by phone today with Mr. Dave Richardson, Sales Manager at Kuni BMW. He is fully appraised of the situation. For now, I've done my civic duty to the best of my ability.

Thanks for reading along.

More bad news would not surprise me.

Although I no longer have a skin in this game, I would ultimately hope the next owner to understand that he/she is buying a car with some potentially big issues. I'd have a tough time sleeping at night knowing that I didn't try to prevent someone else from being really disappointed. I wonder what happened to the car that it's no longer shown in inventory but the dealer sales manager did know that car has substantial repairs (poorly) performed.

According to the Carfax report, the VIN is WP0JB0934KS050418. Is this correct?

That VIN appears correct...although differentiating b/w an O and a zero is difficult. When I bought the car, the carfax failed to show that the car had been repossessed from a very early owner. It also shows several owners but does not tell the story of the car going back and forth between an owner and his leasing company. A title search showed these issues.
