901 prototype #1!!! 1 million $$$ on eBay

Is this guy off his rocker?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche-911_W0QQitemZ170384405716QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Car s_Trucks?hash=item27abb3b4d4&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245

From eBay listing seller claims he has prototype #1 and has deciphered his information from overlapping numbers found in a microfiche located inside the car. He has tracings and diagrams of how he has come up with the chassis number of his car hidden in the jumble of other numbers that apparently also contain the chassis id’s of all the other 901 prototypes (if I’m reading his text correctly).

Has he read too many Dan Brown novels?

I believe I saw this same car on a P-car forum (maybe here?) and the owner was new to Porsches and wanted info about the slant nose body. I can’t find the thread now but it had slightly better photos of the car packed into a garage or barn with a fiberglass body kit.

Does he actually think he will be able to convince anyone that he has the genuine article with the documentation he is providing?

What does "Refitted Renumbered Disguised!" mean? ....lol

And what is this?...

"Registered in Ontario Canada Vin # 9111120162 as 1986 911 T

In USA Vin # 9111120162 as 1970 911T"

The Holy Grail for sure...

Some of those photos prove conclusively that Porsche invented the Spirograph. Or something.

It seems that someone had the prototype (which was filled with occult secret messages). Over time, the original VIN was removed, and it was rebadged as a 1970, and then a 1986. This is east to do, despite the fact that the 901, the 1970 911, and the 1986 911 look nothing alike, since it's INVISIBLE. He took a bunch of pictures of the car, but you CAN'T SEE IT.

Spooky.

You'll never reach it. It's probably something nonsensical like a buck-three-eighty.

Yeah, so this 1971 Karmann T coupe got hacked into a 1986 slopenose convertible lookalike.
I think the seller likes a long running joke. No DMV has ever checked the VIN.

WTF?

That car looks like it's been underwater in some swamp for about 15 years.

If there was any truth to this whatsoever, I'm sure the Porsche Museum would have flown someone out there to authenticate it and either written him a check on the spot or offered him a new GT3 in exchange - something like that. We'd have heard about it, certainly not on FeeBay.

That guy sounds cuckoo.

In the images I see a ‘70T front end. It has (or had) dual batteries and ’69 and later front suspension. There is even the front mounted Bosch electric fuel pump in the correct place for a ‘70T. The proof will be the rear trailing arms and torsion bar tube. Those would be next to impossible to update to LWB without showing the mods on the torsion bar tube.

Of course parts of the car could be very early. I can’t tell from his images.

I suspect he may have a rusty ’70 911T that someone has tampered with the VINs. The rest may be wistful thinking.

Best,
Grady
