'89 Carrera or '98 993?
I need help! I have a chance to pick up a beautiful 1998 993 Targa with 50k miles but if I do it I would need to sell my 1989 Carrera Cabrio. I have had my 89 for just over 2 years now and I absolutely love it. It has just over 113,000 miles on it and it is still very tight, runs strong and is in overall great shape for a driver. It is by no means a garage queen and has signs of normal wear but is still in overall great shape.
I have always wanted a 993 but after driving it the other day I am even more confused. It is is a beautiful car and in amazing shape but I am really struggling with the thought of letting my '89 go. Although the 993 drove nice and tight, I have to admit that in some ways I really like the feel of my '89 better. There is just something about the sounds, vibrations and feel of the '89 Carrera that the newer car didnt seem to have. Maybe I would like the 993 better with time but I dont want to lose the great experience of driving my '89 Carrera! - it is like no other car I have ever driven. Advice or thoughts would be welcome?

I'm sorry to say if I had to choose between my 87 and my 97 - the 87 would be gone good-bye...
Not even close in my opinion. Yes, the 993's feel a little soft and maybe too quiet but that can all be changed. To me the 993's design was the best series - ! I think the fact that it's a targa makes it even more in the 993's favor. Hey, to each his own... Good-Luck though!
