the grass in always greener
G'day all,
i was reading through the Aussie version of Top Gear magazine on the weekend. I found an interesting article in the editorial section. *dont hold me to these figures* It says i can buy a new Carrera in US for just shy of 90K, yet if i buy the same car in Australia, it will set me back around 213K. Last week the $AUD was hovering around 94c US. Things dont seem to add up!

import fees?
I'd check what it costs to bring the car into Australia--lots of countries have high import fees so people buy locally built stuff.

Same as Canada, when our dollar is close to the USD we still pay 20-30K more for the same vette, P cars are the same way also.

Its just another way the goverments screw their people.
I traveled for a few days with an Aussie guy over in Europe, this was some years ago. He was telling me the same thing then about the high costs in Australia vs. US concerning prices. |
