1988 911 Turbo Targa

I am looking at a 1988 911 Turbo Targa. I was told this car was one of 16 brought in the US. Whats up with that. Is it because of the color or what? The owner has passed away but he said it was i of 16 in the U.S. and I have the vin# if that will help identify the car. Please help.
Thanks T W

It's possible that it could be that rare. I'm sure somebody else can cite the production numbers, but I doubt it's THAT rare. In my opinion, I think you're on the right track with the guess about the color. I wouldn't be surprised if it was 1 of 16 1988 Turbo Targas that were "insert color here" with "insert factory option here" and "second factory option here" with the much sought-after "made-up option here".

Posting the VIN is a good first step

It probably is that rare, there were just not many turbo targa's made. Not a popular car back in those days but a great car non the less

And well, with the market crash in 1987, not many folks were spending 90K on a turbo the next year.

What color is it? (did I miss it?)

One thing I have noted in the market this year is that those folks who want the limited build cars are still there for them and I suspect it was the same in 1989 since that was the first and only year for the 5 speed. The targa was just not that popular

Yeah.. but this is an '88 which makes it still a 4spd.

Where's the OP with an update?
