Too much $$ for my 1983 widebody?
I want $17,000 firm delivered to lower 48.
or $16,500 FIRM picked up. the 3rd gear issue is the linkage, (needs a professional) i can adjust it and get 3rd back and loose 5th, or i loose 1st and 2nd. Look at my car and give me an honest opinion. I'm trying to buy a nice E46 M3, in my area. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/511326-1983-911-sc-930-ruf-replica.html

Yes. The market has spoken.
If you want to sell in the range you are asking, here is what to do. Clean up the gear shift issue. You do not want to give a prospective buyer ANY reason to question the integrity of the car. Also, does it have a turbo? I have read a number of your ads as I am in the area. I am still not sure if you have a turbo but I don't think you do. If you don't have a turbo, don't call it a 930. You could say "turbo look." It is an eye-catching car. Don't put off buyers with a little doubt. There is an inherent anxiety with buying a Porsche or similar car. Your job as seller is to smooth those doubts away with a nice car. If not, you will end up selling it for much less. And since I am replying, don't tell the world you want a M3. It confuses the message. Make it about your car and how perfect it is. Good luck. Larry |

Larry, thanks.
However i'm a very honest person. And my cars title says "930 replica" and the first sentence says "1983 porsche 911 SC Super Carrera, Wide body turbo look" Didnt think that was confussing put i will tune it down. JJ

This is your second thread asking the same question.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-marketplace-discussion/511437-trying-sell-my-1983-widebody-sc-mod-ok-price.html The market has spoken pretty clearly at this point and you got basically the same answers from the board about fixing the linkage. As I said in your previous thread, it appears to be a nice car but the last time I think you really wanted something like 18k now its 17k but the markets just not there on this car. Fix the linkage and try again, maybe come spring the economy will be a bit better and the season will be back and you might get a bit more than the market is willing to show you now

Sell the Ruf tail and the wheels and put a stock 930 tail and some turbo fuchs on her, you'll likely get more interest and a better price.

I don't find the whole 930 replica versus turbo look thing confusion. What I find confusing is the comment about "3.0l injected". That kind of makes it sound like you've put some high engine trigger fire fuel injection system on the car and replaced the CIS. And since there's no pictures that show that portion of the engine, I can't tell what you are saying when you call it 3.0l injected. Call it CIS or tell us all about the thousands spent on the aftermarket stuff.
And the price is a bit high for the current market. Here in Colorado that car would sell for $14-15,000. And with some of the unique parts it's going to need a unique buyer. I prefer a factory tail to the aftermarket one. You'll need to find a buyer who likes that tail or sell it seperately. There's 3 or 4 other parts like that on the car. More stock is easier to sell.

Not to pile on - but I agree with the others. Clearly the car in terms of parts is worth more than you are asking, but unless you find someone who wants the car configured exactly as you have it, you are unlikely to get your price. If you are willing ot put some work into it, you can probably net more than $20K overall, but you would need to do something like the following:
1) Sell the rims and tires for maybe $3500 and replace with 7 & 9 fuchs (saw a nice set with good tires recently sell for $1800) so you gain maybe $1500 here 2) Sell the tail and replace with a standard decklid (not a 930 tail). Not sure what that tail sells for for but I would think you may be able to net $1000 on this transaction? Guards Red is very common, so you may be able to find an already painted lid for a few hundred dollars. 3) If the front RUF spoiler really is that difficult to find and that valuable, I would pull it off and sell it - maybe get $3K for it and put on a stock nose - maybe net a few grand on this change. 4) With the three changes above you maybe gain $4 - 5K. Take that and get the shift linkage fixed. Hopefully that is less than $1K. So you are still up 3-4K. Then sell the car with all records of recent work (particularly the engine and paint work) for $16k. Good luck and happy holidays.
