Price Check
Guys my neighbor is looking to sell a 88 911 Cab Carrera Guards Red with tan leather. He bought the car in 1990 and only drove the car once a month.
The car has 20k miles and needs very little to look new ac not working but everything else works fine. I drove the car last night and seems perfect. What would be a fair going price at the market today???? Thanks Clark ![]()

Cars like this are tough to value. They can be from the upper range of a "normal" car of that year - i.e. one with more mileage but in very good shape - to a much higher value determine entirely by whether the seller is looking for a car in near new / original condition. IMO to get the high dollars for such a car the owner needs to be able to document he kept the car in a "time capsule". Merely limiting miles driven for 21 years can actually do more harm than good if all maintenance was done based on mileage rather than time (for example, given that the factory oil change interval on this car is 15,000 miles, it is possible this car has only had a few oil changes). Things such as engine seals and other rubber parts that require lubrication to stay in good shape also often suffer from lack of driving. These cars are still too plentiful to really deserve collector car value - but they might at some point. I am assuming this car was treated as an weekend driver, but not treated like a show car, so I would guess low 20 to mid 20s if it truly needs nothing and all maintenance is up to date and documented.

One of the high-end sellers (example:Tru-speed or Holts) would market this car at over $30,000. 20,000 miles might even command a greater premium and allow this car to retail at $35,000. It could be easily wholesaled to them for $25,000 +.
As much as we would like to think how common these 3.2 G50 cars are; they are desirable. Do not underestimate. Their audience are not Pelicans who are more performance oriented. Their customers tend to be the 40yo+ third car types who don't want to spend $100,000 on a 997 Cab but will pop for a low mileage well kept Cab. Here is a truspeed offering on Ebay.
