Did I price it Right ? ( too low too high?)
I am moving a project on have put 2 items up for sale.
one, a motor was sold in a Ny Minute ( well actually 3 hours after the post including a couple of emails) the other is my 71 E roller at 5K OBO , listed on this site- as of now not too much interest - I thought I had the priced them the same with regards to relative value ( IMO anyways) Any thoughts on why the roller is lingering ? G

1) show a link to the add so people don't have to search
2) its a roller.. so conditions vary and completeness varies.. pics/full description would help

Projects are a hard sell in a slow market and have reverted to pre 2007 values.
Pre-2007 a roller in rough condition was a $3000 or less value. W/O a pic it is hard to value yours. No rust and level of completeness brings the highest value.

Thanks for the search tip....
Let's do the checkbook mechanics math: Bodywork and paint: $25,000 (I did a car in better shape) Rebuild all suspension and brakes $5,000 Engine: $5000 (Very difficult to find a period correct plug and play this cheap) Interior $3000 (again a challenging budget) Okay I will stop.... You can buy a beautiful assembled E for $41,000..... here is one for $31,000 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/484553-fs-1973-porsche-911e.html The cheapest part of this project is the buying of the roller from that point on it gets expensive............... This car IMO should be parted. It is worth much more that way. The steel S bumper alone is $650 to $800. Fenders $300, deck lid $150 etc.....

too high on the bodywork too low on the engine. but otherwise consistent with what I have heard in the past. So - if complete/finished cars are the only ones to own because projects are too expensive etc . Who's gonna buy the parts off of this or any other car ? the search continues.

I need a decklid and purchased a steel S bumper earlier this year...... parts are valuable...... I could use a few other odds and ends......
It is not that your car is over priced. It isn't.... to bring it back will be a task......

Too high.......
How much to haul all the parts to the shop? How much to bead blast the body, prep for additional visible rust repair? Rust treatment? How much to repair all the misc rust as well as the large sections? Undercoating? Paint Materials? Labor? How much to haul car from painter to assembler? If this car is to be brought back properly; the restoration will take commitment.

Pastaboy,
I Don't disagree with what you have laid out as the process - I do, however think the original budget was high - and in my roller's case not all the steps are required - How much to haul all the parts to the shop? $5 worth of diesel How much to bead blast $0 ( body already bead blasted and or stripped with metal-prep sprayed so pretty much done - ( a soda blast here is maybe $1000) Prep for additional visible rust repair $0 last section already prepped for replacement - ? 1 day labor to weld in last repair section - Rust treatment? ???? not following you here, i usually start with epoxy primer and for a P car was going to use the wurth goo that seems to be slopped everywhere for that factory look - How much to repair all the misc rust as well as the large sections? isn't this the same question as above ? Undercoating? Wurth goo ( $300 worth to blend in sections ) and maybe $200 for the proprietary sprayer if I can't find one to borrow - more if I over pay the maestro at the paint shop spray it. Paint Materials? $3000-3500 for Glasurit maybe $2200 to 2500 for PPG single stage. epoxy/2k/topcoat ( i like the ppg primers so I typically will use or spec DCC for topcoat.) Add $200 or so for shop supplies - Labor? $6000-10000 - 80 hours work blended rates - How much to haul car from painter to assembler? $0 either the same guy or in my case DIY - I end up closer to 15K - maybe the difference is in labor rates or the open check book process you go through when you tell the man I want a concourse product - In any case good food for thought , but I still need to make space for an incoming car and so here I sit . car priced ok but no takers - It seems wrong to part out a car that can be made whole again.

There is ALWAYS a market for parts. The downside to selling off parts is the hassle of packing and sending dozens of items rather than just rolling away the roller. Cheers d.
