Is it worth it...
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/562786-84-race-car-273-rwhp-2050-lbs.html
Can't discuss sales on the sale page so I thought I would post it over here also. Am I crazy on the price. Perhaps I should try and sell the parts What do ya think.

Is it worth what you are asking? I would think so. However, it's a brutally tough market on racecars right now. They are being dumped for pennies on the dollar. Hell, you can buy a 996 Cup Car for under $75k these days.
Add in the fact that this car is built up on a cab. and it's going to be tough to place. When there are so many other cars to choose from right now, it's going to take that one guy who really wants exactly what this car is to make a sale.

+1 very tough market... I saw a $120,000 race car & spares trade for $40,000.

It looks nice, but is a tough car to point out for competition. The point about the cab platform all depends on the cage and from the pictures I can't tell how nice the cage is.

The point about the cab platform was largely a question of perception, with reality being secondary. It can be the most kick ass cage in the world and be a super stiff and tight car and I think the vast majority of guys will stop reading the thread or even considering it when they see that it's built on a cab.

Just a note not a cage discussion but the cage is an 8 point welded to the usual spots. It does not penetrate the firewall to the rear shock towers. Unless you are changing the mount points of the rear suspension and install coil overs I don't see the need. The car is stiff and does not flex. You can not hear the top move at all when attached and it does not flex when lifted either on a hoist or at the side jack points. The windshield frame is also attached to the rollbar.
To be club raced an additional side bar would need to be installed to complete the X. If someone wanted to redo the rear suspension and relocate the rear support tubes it would be easy enough compared to the other work involved. As far as that goes get a hard top and weld it on then sell the fiberglass one. The hardtop by itself will go much easier. But I understand the oops its a cab see you later........

Think of the car as a convenient shipping package for the rest of the parts. The engine, tranny, wheels, and suspension are worth the price. The body may just be a nice box.
