Cert Of Authenticity

Hello- I have been working on my 72E targa for some time now to get it ready to offer for sale here on Pelican. I am the 3rd owner, and have owned it since1984, and have no doubt that the engine is the original. Would it be worthwhile to seek a COA for the car prior to offering it? If so-how do you go about it-I live in a Porsche dealer underserved area, so would have to apply via mail or internet. Thanks for your answer.

I think numbers matching early cars will command a premium over non-matching, and there are only a few ways to confirm that the engine is the one delivered from factory with your chassis. If you don't have delivery paperwork which confirms the serial numbers, you can get a COA by sending a form to PCNA and paying around $100. If you want to get the info without paying for it, you can call PCNA (I believe the number is 1-800-Porsche, option 3) and if you send them a copy of your title or registration to prove that you own the car, they will research it and provide you with the info orally at no charge. This may not be enough for a buyer looking for confirmation that the car matches, but at least you will know before you spend the $100. If you need the form, email or PM me with your email address and I can send it to you.
