HI Jeff,
No I don't work for the seller But I did go as far as leaving a $5k deposit and paying my mechanic to fully inspect it. I would love to see a bone stock RSA in the same condition for $25k being the huge RSA fan that I am I have follow these cars religiously and have yet to see anything for less that 30k If you know of one for $25k and are keeping it a secret let the cat outta the bag, I want it! Whats, very little left of the RSA ??? I mean it has the original RSA tail (no wiper arm) Original non power steering RSA optioned suspension + sway bars RS door panels RSA wheels RSA Rear package tray RSA Trunk carpet (has that little bungee thing for the owners manual) RSA red optioned seat belts + red pull strap (yes that was an option) G50-03 transmission with LSD (with RSA gearing) Other than the missing stock 3.6 964 plastic intake engine that came on all 964s(93-94) its pretty much stock! Id say the Vario Ram is a huge huge plus I've owned a 90 964 (done up fast) and a stock 92 964 and none of these even held a candle stick to how fast this car is.... I guess I see it differently because I dont see this most Porsches as collectible in my eyes I see them as driving machines I personally add 24-29k miles per year to my 911s.... so collecting them is out of the question for me. between daily driving, autocrossing up and down the California coast and misc crazy driving. but yes your right the Market has spoken :) |
Marketplace reality is you can find track RSAs for $20,000 to $25,000. One is currently listed on the for sale board. I know of 2 other similiar cars that sold recently. One in very nice condition.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/583229-1993-rs-america-22900-a.html To me the major flaw greater than the salvage title is the missing original motor. Minus the motor it is only a hotrodded RSA w/ a salvage title. Value yet to be determined. Think of it in terms of any desirable model minus its motor. A 73 RS w/ a 3.oL (or even replacement block) or an S w/ a 3.2. It is safe to say it is worth more in parts. W/ all that being said, it still could be a fun car for someone but at asking it would be the passion not experience making the buy decision. |
No one is saying it might not be a fun car. What makes an RSA? Whats left of that? The salvage title rules out the majority of buyers too. Its simply a 964 salvage title which has an RSA former vin number and some RSA cosmetics and interior bits left.
Yup the 993 motor is an upgrade, according to the add it needs some attention as does the tranny. It has zero collectability at this point but there is a pretty big premium in the asking price. |
An RSA is an RSA it doesn't become a Carrera 2 just because it's salvage (not damaged) but rather because of the mileage
not " cosmetic bolt ons" they are original equipment big difference. Not "some" most of the original equipment is there with the exception of Original seats and original gauges. (some one changed the gauges and DMV said no no and issued a bad title) The Carfax is there.... Yes I agree Zero collectability and the price is pretty high Wow $22k ! this guy wanted a little more like 6-7 months ago I remember when it went for sale: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/583229-1993-rs-america-22900-a.html But missing original wheels missing RSA trunk carpet missing spare has the undesirable sunroof No red seat belts or pulls RUST Tranny issues leaks oil Needs rotors Repaired front end Not bad :) for $22k if you need to put in another 3-4k and you have to deal with red paint + issues. The only reason I defend this RSA is because I can still see my self owning this car, if something good comes along in the next months. I doubt it will sell for it's current asking price. |
