Texas Direct ??? Chicago Toy Store eBay ???

I am shopping for a 01 thru 04 996 and have been researching and watching prices....good news is they are dropping into what I am looking to spend and will probably be buying a low mileage one in the next 6-12 months.

My question is does anyone have any experience with Texas Direct or Chicago Toy Store which are on eBay?

Thank you in advance for your feedback and comments.

Here is a link to their listings and examples of what they have:

Chicago Toy Store:

Porsche : 911 - eBay (item 180618832814 end time Feb-08-11 11:05:16 PST)

Texas Direct:

Porsche : 911 - eBay (item 190496074891 end time Feb-07-11 13:45:30 PST)

Just curious, but from the poor photos that they have posted on eBay, how can you conclude that it has been repainted?

I looked at an '04 996 at Texas Direct a few weeks ago. The car was in very good condition but had a few issues as any used car does. The price pretty well fit the quality of the car.

My concern with buying any car long distance is you just don't know until you see the car in person.

I was all fired up to buy an '06 997S on Friday. I drove 250 miles to buy it. I passed on the car. It had 22K miles but when you compared it to the operating hours it averaged 22 mph. In other words, almost all of the driving was short trips in town. So the interior had the wear of a car with a lot of miles due to the driver getting in and out so often.

The car also had multiple painted panels that the owner claimed he knew nothing about. I'm OK with issues like this but the price must reflect it. So I wasted 12 hours and about $120 on a rental car and gas to drive 500 miles.

Needless to say, I'm very leery about buying a car I can't see in person, preferably in my own town so I don't have to travel and come back empty handed.

Texas Direct has excellent prices. I've never seen one of their cars, so I don't know about how the price stacks up vis a vis quality.

They are looking for quick sales and will not hesitate to sell to someone else if you do not have funds lined up already. Deposits mean little and their prices are non-negotiable. "I will lose a deal over $50" is what the sales person told me.

Hello

Do you live in Chicago?

There are many good private owners selling, it's a big market.

I am looking for a 1996-98. 993, it looks like they cost more then your series.

Wonder why? Because last air cool?

If you must have a 996 the 02 to 04 are better cars in general.
