1975 carrera 911 s question

Im back from my last porsche 3 years ago. some of you helped me back then. thanks. I have found a good porsche. need some advice. it is a 75 carrera 911 with electric factory sunroof. it has air. etc. silver has been sitting in a garage since 93. no battery. did not try to do anything. I will post pics is this thing a rare care? 91 k miles. was told it ran and drove. but the owner parked it. it scared his wife. anyways I will post the vin number. how do I tell if it is a true carrera? and if I get this I will do more posting. as it will need to be gone through.
the tag on the inside front hood. 911 H 911 S66 vin 9115200087
it says carrera on the engine decal. what size engine is this thing? I appreciate your tons of knowledge here. thanks...

It's a 1975 911S coupe. Not rare at all. The '75 used thermal reactors to meet emissions requirements at the time and those reactors created and retained heat that 'soaked' the cylinders and studs, causing the head studs to expand and contract and work their way out of the case. Repair is very expensive, since it requires total engine disassembly. Not sure if this car could be pulling head studs or not with those miles. But head studs are easy for a mobile Porsche mechanic to check. If you're thinking of buying, consider the head stud integrity to be a go/no-go factor.

well the car sat for a few years. it does have the sunroof. does it make it more rare? paint is good. tires and wheels the same interior dirty but not bad. what would a car in this condition be worth? seller is asking 8500 but I can not even hear it run. it is an ac car. wood steering wheel. with etched name on the wheel
does it have the 3.0? thanks

By VIN number, it would not have the 3.0. There are plenty of good running '74-77 911Ss around for that price.

sorry to ask so many questions on this car. is this a true carrera then? I did notice numbers on the stickers by the engine but did not know what size the engine was in this one. too much money then for a non running car?

so with a car sitting since 94 I would possibly get into trouble buying this car for 8500? seems kind of high to me as well. I just didn't know if this was a good price. also what kind of things would need to be done first. before it ran? would that be a better thread on the other board?

thanks for all the help thus far

No, the sunroof does not make it more rare. No, it doesn't have a 3.0. Even if you see it running, you have to assume the engine has pulled head studs unless you can get a proper pre-purchase inspection. Car sounds like it is in the $3-4K range.

'74-77 911S / US Carreras used the 2.7l CIS injected motors. Rated between 157-167 depending on year (74s had no emission controls and were rated at 167 SAE hp. 75-77 were rated at 157 and iirc, Cali models might have even been dinged a little more.)

Rare? hardly, but overall, even the lowly midyears are going to have their day. Overall not many were built and seems many were modded up/converted to track cars. Finding original, UNMOLESTED concours examples are hard to come by.
