Value of a 914 V-8
What do you think a 914 with good paint, no rust, no a/c, stock transmission, upgraded rear springs and brakes, and a basic V-8 - around 250-275hp - (think Renegade hybrid) should go for? In other words, nothing crazy, not show quality, just a basic V-8 914.
Thanks, Scott

What year 914? An early one with chrome bumpers is more desireable than a late one with the rubber bumpers and bumper shocks. Pics always help.

$12, US or CAN.
Much to vague as a V8 914 is a homebrew.. so knowing/seeing more and the parts/quality of the conversion will indicate the value the car is worth. Still stock brakes? if not, then what was the upgrade? 4-bolt? suspension? wings/aero treatment? just assembled or thoroughly shaken down? What size V8? engine mods?

The car is one I'm thinking of building myself. Just want to know I can get most of my money out of it when done. It will be a '75 914. No mods to engine. I plan on buying the Renegade kit. It will keep stock front suspension and wheels. I will likely use 911 SC brakes. I will upgrade the rear springs. No aero kits or anything like that. Car will look stock except for the interior. I will install Corbeau seats with 5 point harnesses.
Hope the extra info helps. Thanks for your opinions. Keep 'em coming. Scott

Here's a data point for you:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-914-used-parts-sale-wanted/626518-1971-914-w-350-chevy-los-angeles.html#post6217087 Though a lot of it depends on the condition of your starting point vehicle. If it's really solid cosmetically and mechanically, the swap won't add a lot of value, but won't hurt it at all.

IMHO, with any car, do NOT expect to get your money back. Cars like "this" are not investments. A '73 911RS? yes. A 356 Speedster? yes. A backyard modded 914? no. Sorry.
In the end, any money you "get back" will be entirely dependent upon demand at the time of selling and the quality of work performed.

I have no illusions about this being an investment. Just trying to figure out what I could roughly sell it for when done. Thanks.
