1971 T Targa
I'm looking for some help in determining if this is a car I should walk away from or get more info on and or buy. I have about 30 pics emailed from the seller. We have only corresponded by email. Some of the pics (from under the car) are 18 months old. The others are 6 months old. He says the car runs and drives. He gave me the vin and it decodes correctly to a 71 T targa. I'm waiting for the engine serial number and some pics of the engine, door sills and the front bonnet under the spare and in the battery boxes. I also asked if the flares are FG or steel. I'm pretty good mechanically, but would have to farm out body work. Any input would be appreciated.
Here's a link to my photobucket account with pics: http://s592.photobucket.com/albums/tt7/TommyV9/1971%20911%20T%20Targa/ Tom Last edited by RD911T; 04-06-2012 at 03:47 PM.. |

No joke
I'm seriously looking for some input. I had a 73E back in the late 80's and have been looking for another 911. I found this and thought it seemed low priced, but with the flares and not knowing yet if it is the matching engine, I really was unsure.

Ok good, any chance you get RUN over and stuff the money in his hands, don't ask any questions or make it difficult for him and drive away laughing.

At a minimum the pictures show that the car needs some welding and there is oil leaking. If you can't do the bodywork and need to pay someone this can get expensive quick. If the oil leak is because of broken head studs, then start running quick the other way, because you may need serious money to get this car fixed up. Just my opinion.

For $20k you'd want all that info, this is a screaming giveaway at $10k. If it was advertised it would be sold in 10 minutes
