What it worth: 2.0 914-6 engine

I'm thinking of upgrading my 914-6 (conversion) to a 3.2 engine. Currently the car has an original 914-6 2.0 engine installed. There is nothing wrong with the engine. Runs perfectly. I just want more power!!! What would be some ballpark figures for this engine. Complete with webers, flywheel, etc. No exhaust or muffler.

What's a low mileage 3.2 going for these days I see eBay motors between $4-5000.

I don't think the 2.0L is worth much to anyone other than the owner of the matching car for exactly the reason you state....it's not very powerful. Anyone doing a -6 conversion in a 914 is looking for the same engine you are pretty much. Maybe a Ghia or a Bus guy would want it?

Also I think your car will be worth a lot more if you keep the original engine with it.

::EDIT:: just saw your car is a conversion. Post it over on 914world and 914club with the engine number... the owner of the matching car may be there looking for his original engine!

If you find a low mileage 3.2 for $4-5k, buy every and any one you find!! I suspect those listings are the famous MM "rebuild" prices.

A low mileage, well documented 3.2 is going to be much closer to $7k. For $5k you can find a high mileage, no documentation engine.
