What do you guys think about this 2006 Carrera S?

2006 Used Porsche 911 2dr Cpe Carrera S at Porsche of Stevens Creek Serving Santa Clara, San Jose, CA, IID 9148768

It's spent some time in Kentucky and also near the ocean, and it was bought at auction. Mileage indicates this was a daily driver. What do you guys think?

Any thoughts on Porsche of Stevens Creek?

Most guys in California who own a car like this live near the ocean. I would not worry about that.

I'm worried that it's been to auction twice, and that the first lease in KY was only for a year. Perhaps the first lessee had a bad experience with the car, turned it in for a new model, then the dealer couldn't sell it because the car had problems and had to dispose of it at auction.

I'm probably over thinking this.

In any event, a PPI is a must, but PPI's don't catch everything.

You never know, its hard to tell...some folks have more money than sense...my brother bought a new 2008 cabriolet, got bored sold it in 9 months, bought a BMW 7 series, kept for 2 years, then bought a 2009 997 coupe with 9000 miles, got bored in 6 months and bought a 2012 panamera GTS, he lost tons of money on each transaction, there was nothing wrong with any of his cars..So just because some folks don't keep em long doesn't necessarily mean they had problems....Tim

This is very true, I have experienced people and friends that lost $$$$ bigtime just by getting bored or losing interest. Time to swoop in...

Hi Timchar, next time your brother thinks about trading something in (especially a P car), maybe post it up so some of us may have a chance of getting a deal. Trading in to a dealer is the lowest $ you'll get. But is is convenient and hassle free.

Car seems a bit high $$$. That car is still on a heavy down slope in depreciation. Lacks the character and personality of a air cooled model. IMO

Agree that the price is a little on the high side, but they are a dealer. Are they CPOing the car?

1-year lease returns are fairly common. An auction car isn't any different than any other car, in fact may be better. If you can get the auction records from the dealer (not likely) and see the condition report from when they bought it, that would tell you a lot. Auction condition reports are generally very reliable, and if it's sold under a green light it's a pretty safe buy.
