What's it worth
Greetings All, I am a regular on the 944 forum but need some 911 expertise. We have a chance to pick up a 69 911 in a private sale. The car is complete and has been stored for about ten years. I believe it ran when put away and it has no body damage and little visible rust. The owner intended to fix it up but life got in the way and it never happened.
Any ideas on what this is worth. Any comments would be appreciated. Thx, Jon

Welcome to the world of 911s ![]() You will find a lot of help here. First, is it a 911T, 911E or 911S? Coupe or Targa? What is the rust and prior crash damage repair situation? Search the 911 Forum about PPI instructions. This will give you an idea where and what to look for. Have a 911-knowledgable Pelican or PCA person look at the car. Post lots of detailed images here. Absolutely have a professional PPI done by a competent (and 911-knowledgable) shop that has never had contact with the car or owner. Find out about the history of the car. Who was the original owner? Who were any other owners? What is the service history? The 911 is coming up on its 44th birthday. Lots can have happened, both good and otherwise. If you are afraid someone else could buy the car while you are doing your ‘due diligence’, enter into a ‘Purchase Agreement’ contract with the seller. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/148416-buying-process.html Best, Grady

Ok, still havn't looked at this car but now know that it is a 76 911S Coupe. Is this a project I want to consider? Research says that the engines were a bit of an experiment with "thermal reactors" and exotic methods to meet emissions. Can they be made to run decently?
Any comments? Thanks, Jon

If where you live doesn't require smog, then go for it. Update to 11 blade fan, run some SSI exhaust/headers and get the most of the 165 hp it could unleash
![]() '76 was the first year of partially galvanized bodies, so they rust less than '74 and older.
