Barrett Jackson Auction 959 prototype

Hey guys, looks like we have something to watch for at the Barrett Jackson Auction next week. Looks like they will be auctioning a 959 Prototype. I just can't imagine what it might sell for. Any guesses?
Here is the link;
1986 PORSCHE 959 Lot 5011 | Barrett-Jackson Auction Company

The written hype makes me shake my head............not in a good way.

The time slot will be right after cocktail hour, so they, the bidders are sauced up real good.

I prefer to watch Gooding on the internet. Quite, polite and no big mouths wearing Hawaiian shirts

Whatever a 959 is going for these days, multiply by three.

You know it never ceases to amaze me how poor the writing is to describe such a rare and exotic car. These auction houses rake it in and the catalogs and descriptions are littered with errors, grammatical mistakes, and sentence fragments not even attached by a preposition.

Ok, I am off the soapbox. I am sure it will make 1.5 million as stated.

Wow, that would be an impressive figure

Not really relevant, but I really like the seat cover design.

Wow, very poorly written description and what is up with the stance? It's raked like a Chevelle!

I wonder if this is the same car that Wayne @ Pelican Parts discussed a few years back?

Gack: "The Porsche 959 is one of the greatest sports cars ever to be assembled and touch the black asphalt which covers the roads on which the 959 is an undisputed champion."

Sounds like Paul McCartney's crappy lyric: "in this ever changing world in which we live it..."

VIN is the same as the one Wayne discussed, yes.
Rear ride height has changed and perhaps wheels too?

Nice to know that asphalt is black and that it covers the roads....

Seriously, these auction houses must hire their drop-out family members for these descriptions, and if you read it a couple times it looks as though they used the google program to translate an original press release to English...problem is I don't know what language the original press release was in...

Fixed for you but I agree, it's one of my favourite syntactically incorrect lyrics. If he needed it to scan, why not:

"But if this ever-changing world in which we live just makes you break down and cry,
Say live and let die"

Took me like 5 seconds to come up with that and I'm no McCartney

Cheers

It's being sold on Saturday. Not sure what time though.

I was there on Sunday and took some photos of the 959 and other cars that were there. I uploaded photos of the Barrett-Jackson auction here.

I have a backlog of photos I've taken at other events that you may also like. I'll be posting them in the OctaneNation automotive events section.

I'd also love everyone's feedback on the main site, where you can create a profile of your custom/project car.

Cheers!

Very cool. I guess there are two of us here in the auto enthusiast web press. I have a video series that has run daily since February 2007: youtube.com/fastlanedaily

B-J website says it went for $440k. I saw it get up to about $350k (slowly) before switching channels. Batmobile got $4.2 million. I'd rather have the Porsche (or 9 of 'em).
