GP White / Red Carrera in Las Vegas - price checl
Curious to hear everyone's take on the price of this car
1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Love the color combo, don't love the white piping on the seats but that's splitting hairs. Actually really like the black wheels even though my impulse is always towards stock. Last edited by r-mm; 02-20-2013 at 04:24 PM.. |

Huge fan of white -- but like the more staid burgundy interiors. As a starting price, I wouldn't call it outrageous, but the cars I was looking at last summer at that price point had recent rebuilds and good records -- and were sitting in the 80k range. At that price, everything had better work -- including A/C.
No mention in the add. The way he is pimping the second hand carfax would seem to indicate he doesn't have records. Mechanically sound, but with no records or rebuild, I would think ~20k would be more the market -- and I wouldn't consider it to be a "steal" at that price. All cars, wives, (and husbands) come with defects. Do you think you can love the red interior in two years, or do you think you will be so negative about it then that you will have to divorce it in favor of a black or tan interior. I'm not saying, "Don't look at it", but do some soul searching before you go down the path too far.
(In my own case, I bought a car that was too expensive. But when I did my soul searching, and asked myself: "Will I care in 2015 that I paid too much in 2010?" When I said, "No", I wrote the check.)

Personally I love the color combo, I get real tired of the same old/same old... The piping is not white, it started as red and it probably started to wear so one of the owners cleaned it with something that stripped the color off it. Believe it or not the factory piping was always that yellow/white color and then was colored at the factory with some sort of plastic paint, never wears well.
I love the 17" replica Fuchs, nice upgrade as your tire choices are much better than with 16". My biggest issue is the rear decklid, the fit is awful and the carrera script has been placed probably 12" too low, it just looks wrong. Like COLB I am reading between the lines that documentation is scarce, to me it a high teens kind of 3.2 G50 car. |

Hmmmm.........shouldn´t an 87 have 3 point rear seat belts?
I second the issue with the rear deck lid - check for rear end damage. Too pricey, imo. |

Many good points offered above. Regarding the color, personally I like the GP White, however, if red is not on your top three for interior color choices then give this consideration. I agree with the concerns expressed regarding previous owners CarFax and possible lack of service records.
The Carrera script is definitely in the wrong spot and suggests a possible issue? Get the PPI done at an independent shop if you decide to pursue. Regarding price, always depends on which side you're on, buying or selling... based on sales results, not asking prices, this is a $18 - $20K car depending on PPI and leak down results any accident damage identified or deficiencies that need attention. Great cars. Good luck with your search. Mike |

Thanks for the opinions - they confirm my thought that the car is closer to a $18-21k car. Not to say the seller can't get more, but that's probably what it would be worth from me.
Regarding the red - I do love it. I was almost in tears when I missed a moss green / green leather SC. I like interesting combos. We have a Black S2000 with an interior in about the same red - even the dash. Still not tired of it. Bigger question is how wise it is for our only two cars (besides an alfa going thru a bare metal resto) to be more or less two seaters. |

It appears those pictures were taken at the track outside of Vegas...and look closely at the tires...those appear to be track tires. Wanna bet this car is his track play thing?
Nothing wrong with that...but, be aware. |

Now accepting US $ at par

Asking $24,600 with 125K miles
![]() No records, no original wheels, great ext colour bad int colour IMHO. People have ID'd some issues with engine lid as well. I woulda thought that this was an ~$18K car but perhaps the market has moved on...? Techweenie should weigh in. Cheers d.

I love white, and I like the interior color as well.
I am not liking the piping on the seats, looks a little pimpey to me. Values seem to be all over the place, with some people being VERY optimistic in their pricing. If everything checked out with the PPI I would be all in at a about 20k. Good Luck

vracer nailed it. Read that again.
With regard to price, find me a sorted G50 coupe for $20k and I'll buy it...As long as it isn't white. |
