Hate to do it... 87 930
OK- so while I thought I would never do this, priorities have made this day come.
I am going to sell my 87 930; the car I lusted after since high school, then I lusted after this particular example for almost 10 years before finally convincing the owner to sell it to me. I finally got it in December of 2011, and spent 2 years going through it and fixing/replacing/upgrading everything. Now I'm going to sell, and because of all the modifications I want to get an idea of price before I list it. First, let me say this is the fastest car I have ever driven; it is an 87 930, black on black with ~43k original miles. 467 RWH @.85bar w/93 octane Some of the upgrades include: G50 Transmission High-Perf Clutch 3.4L Dual Plug w/TEC-1 Engine Management New Turbo and Kokeln Intercooler Andial Pistons & Cylinders Carrillo Rods Competition Engineering Cylinder Head Sport Valve Springs Crankshaft Rework 964 3.4L Camshaft Grind Bosch Racing Fuel Pump Inside: Custom silver painted gauges by VDO Boost gauge replaced clock Momo Wheel LED Lighting for gauges and interior New Recaro Seats Harness Bar Wheels: Polished 3-piece 17" Tires: Kumho Ecsta XS 315/35 R17 245/40 R17 All scratches and dings were fixed in 2012 so paint looks perfect, new windshield seals, etc. Car is perfect; only thing I haven't tracked down is a battery drain (relay doesn't cut power to windows after exiting vehicle). Below are some pictures I took last year before putting it away for the Winter... car is in NY. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Most prospective buyers are looking for originality. The gauges and steering wheel will hurt the value a bit. The steering wheel isn't too difficult to change back but the gauges would be more expensive. The 964 rear bumper doesn't match the rest of the car. Nice car otherwise.
You'll have to wait for a buyer with your same taste in 911s to come along...

Rear bumper was done to accommodate the new exhaust; I would have updated front bumper to match at this point, just never got around to it. I have paperwork for all the major upgrades from original owner, plus everything I have done to it. As to the price, I'm estimating somewhere between $40-50k would be reasonable? Someone let me know if I'm way off base in today's market. ![]() |

I would have guessed in the $35k-45k range personally. $35k for a faster sale, 45k if you can wait longer.

Check the wiring from the electric window relay to the fuse box. Maybe the PO wired it directly to a 12v source and not switched. Or the relay is bad.

While values have gone up dramatically in the last year, 3.3 Turbos need to be exceptional and original to break the $40k mark. The modifications are a huge detractor against the value of the car. Is it possible that there is someone out there who lusts after the car exactly as you have modified it and is willing to pay for these mods? Possible? Yes. Likely? No.

930
As you have relatively low miles on the car it will also help if you have receipts/documentation that verifies mileage over the years. I would also run a carfax to see whether the miles on carfax match, because a potential buyer will.
Other items you didn't mention are if heat exchangers exist and heat works, if recaro's are leather, suspension on car and if its been recently serviced/checked out. Unfortunately a modded 930 can also scare away buyers as if poorly done or overboosted becomes an expensive hand grenade. Do you have a good mechanic willing to talk about its condition? As has been mentioned you have a nice car with $10-25K in upgrades that would be worth more without them. You mentioned updating front bumper to match, strongly suggest you don't, you'll make car less valuable, instead change rear bumper/exhaust to stock w/used parts. With documentation mid thirties sale sounds more realistric, maybe you ask high thirties.

The car without the mods would be 40ish assuming the milage is correct - new gauges and all....
My guess would be 30K as is. There is a very nice looking original Canadian 930 for sale on the for sale section. |
