924S/944S2 Value Discussion?

Good morning All.......Using Hagerty's Condition Guide, Condition#2, 1988 924S and 1989 944S2. Which will be worth more in five & ten years and by how much? I find it interesting that Hagerty lists both a significantly higher values than we see in the marketplace.....particularly Condition#1 cars. I have room in my garage for one and need some help deciding. Thanks guys!

My advice... buy the car that you'd like to own and drive.

Most likely that will be the 944S2 given similar condition between the two.

Neither of those cars is going to see any significant appreciation in value. Neither of them will be a good "investment". They're 20+ year old mass-produced cars. They will both require money to be spent on repairs, maintenance and insurance that will likely more than wipe out any meagre appreciation that might be realized over your stated timeframe.

Cheers

d.

the 924s is the bottom model lite and a good auto-x car
but suffers from being a 924 in future value

944s2 is much rarer and a top 944 version with the bigger 3.0 twin cam
likely to be below the 968 in value as a limiting factor in the future

I see the 944 TURBO S as the 944 with the brightest future value
with the 944 turbo non S but with airbags and ABS as the next 944 to go up
968 converts should gain some value too

Hey nota.....Thanks for the input. As a "long" weekend driver, I'll stick with a normally aspirated coupe w/sunroof. I think the S2 is prettier car but, if there is any appreciation to be had it's gonna be the 968 first....I think, I think.

If "techwennie" or other Pelicans are tuned in, what are your thoughts?

Thanks again guys!
