Value of 1977 911s?
I'm helping a family friend.
Car is a 1977 911s with sunroof. I believe it is "Copper Brown Metallic", I'm color blind so take this with a grain of salt but it is a pinkish brown to me. Odo reads 55k but doesn't work, noone knows when it stopped working. Everything else seems to work. Owner only drove car on nice days, was his baby. I think I remember him owning it in the mid-80s but I don't think he bought it new. Big stack of receipts for past 8-10 years, they are looking for more. I saw no mention of timecerting the case or pressure fed tensioners (though car has the Carrera tensioners). Still has 5 bladed fan, cb-radio, ski rack, tape deck. Only problem I saw was the vinyl on the drivers side bolster was pretty worn and cracked. Engine sounds very nice and in tune and I thought the car was really pleasant to drive. Pretty sweet little car - I'm actually sort of tempted. I know these mid-years are feared and loathed but it is so nice I think there must be a market for it. Advice as to what this thing might be worth? What is the best way to sell it? PS: Pictures to come, probably in a few weeks: Family is super busy. Need to wait for our schedules to be free at a time with good light. At least they're ok to take my advice to bide their time and not sell to the first person that offers (3 casual offers so far). |

Sit back and be surprised. I suspect that car is worth more than you think it is...
And definitely tell them not to take the first random offer. Might be worth their whole to pay for a PPI to learn the true condition of their car. It will cost $400-500 and give them a lot of good information about their vehicle. I'm going to wait to see pictures before I say a number. |

We sold a similar, low mileage car, in brown, earlier this year for $12,000.
Hope that helps - Matt

I bought my '77 turbo-look 911s 1.5 years ago for a fair price of $10.5K
California car (no rust) paint is good/slightly better than just good interior is ok, but definitely shows its age good, decent, daily driver. Brakes, steering, acceleration, windows, etc... all the main stuff works several little things didn't work when I bought it (sunroof, tape deck, headlight stalk, needed clutch cable adjustment, etc...) but nothing crucial. edit:had 166K miles on the clock. best wishes

Stars aligned and they brought the car over this morning for pictures. Sorry it was overcast so glare. There's been no post-processing on these pictures, the interior color really is that saturated.
I've more snaps and higher res, let me know if there's a picture you need. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Of the 2.7 range, the '74 and '77 are the least troublesome. The '77s have -- IIRC -- steel lower head studs and Dilavar uppers. They do not all pull out of the cases.
This car appears to have all of its emissions equipment in place, but no belt driving the smog pump, So the pump may have to have work before the car can be sold in an emissions-sensitive state. I would also check underneath to see if the thermal reactors are there or if they've been replaced. The emissions situation might limit where you can easily sell it. However, this car would likely bring big money in Europe. I wouldn't be surprised if you could get something in the high teens with minimal effort. To sell this car, I'd use eBay for international exposure (unless of course, you're getting a flood of PMs from Pelicanheads already).

Great color and looks in very good condition. Definitely into the teens IMO.

Man, that car is sweet. When I see that clean of a midyear with that '70s interior it makes me love a midyear even more. That is one nice car, and I don't know if I have ever seen one so nice in many, many years. If they do end up selling make sure they get a fair price as the colors are unusual (I like them), and make sure they REALLY want to part with it.

That car really looks nice. Should be high teens no problem. I would remove the random crap on the decklid/roof unless that is factory then stick it on ebay. I think you might be pleasantly surprised at the end bid. Really classy color combination which I think works for a mid year.

Small point, but you don't have to advertise that it is driven in the snow.

If it is as nice as the pictures indicate, it would probably be a 20k $ car on the European market.

$20K or better in Europe, but it will cost around $5K to get it there to resell.

I think shipping can be arranged for approx. 2000 $ if combined with other cars to fill up a container.

Shipping is approximately $1400 with insurance, in a container. Incoming duty is 16-19% of the car's value.

Thanks all for advice and complements.
I sent the family a link to this thread. I think my job is done here, at the least they've a rough idea of price, and maybe they'll advertise it widely. From here on out there's diminishing returns. Can anyone recommend an enthusiast forum in Europe? Is there an equivalent to the pelican forum there or should we just expect the foreigners to be here and tracking the usa ebay? Parting shot, because I've never seen a trunk that wasn't grotty: ![]() And in case this someday turns up as a mint florida slantnose - the vin is: 9117200053 |

I sell to German buyers frequently. If you have an interest in selling for top dollar, that is the way to go. I can make some inquiries... will PM

Sent you a PM. I'm interested in the car. I think we can come to terms. I'm a collector, not a dealer. No need to go to the hassle of selling overseas. Please PM me.

Like so many SCs have the Carrera tensioners and pop-off-airbox devices - thermal reactors gone, case-savers installed, etc, etc. Those cars will appreciate, and the ones that don't have that stuff will head to parts-car territory? Maybe not bringing as much as SCs and Carreras, but not so unloved as right now... |

Very nice looking original car - if you have the books it would probably sell for 25 - 30 k euros.
