1995 3.2 Cab

Obviously it is an 85 3.2 euro car, not a 95 as the ad says. Must be tough to sell when you can't get the year right.

This first came on to CL a few weeks ago. I called on it. Apparently it is a consignment or trade-in. I talked to the used car salesman a couple of times, was supposed to get back to me on history as they had records and contact with the PO. He informed he of all the interest but said he would get back. Never did. Anyone put eyes on it? I suspect there is something wrong with it at this price and this many days on the market.

If it were nearby, I'd likely buy it just on principle. Reasons it hasn't sold: Euro market car, BBS wheels, needs top. Red (the color that screams 'even though my wife left me, I'm still an interesting man. Really.').

That AC setup is strange.

Is this normal for a Euro? My uninformed guess would be it is a European aftermarket. The compressor is not the stock Nippondenso.

The rear condenser only covers half the decklid vent -- which would lead to dubious performance.

Dislike aftermarket wheels as a rule, but the silver BBS are nice looking -- certainly better than the gold ones by a wide margin.

If it checked out mechanically I would think it is pretty good value. Despite the negatives described above I have a hard time understanding why it isn't selling at that price in this market. Only think i can think is it doesn't check out mechanically or it looks worse in person than the photos show. In defense of the slick willy salesman I spoke to he did say the photographed the worst aspects of the car (cosmetically at least). If I get a chance to be in the area I will check it out, so far I have not had the hours to make it there.

Euro=231hp.

I'm digging the BBS wheels. Lowered stance. Keep the roof down (or the rear window zipped out) and who needs AC. Cheap too..

Its aftermarket AC.

As a data point I think the euro cars are worth more. I sold my 1984 Euro cab on this site back in the winter and got 20.5k for it and had a lot of pretty close offers.

Must be something very wrong with this car otherwise a broker would have jumped on it already. If its not rusty underneath or crash damaged its at a price where you could afford to put in 5k and still be OK.

Listing Quote

Besides getting the year wrong, Dwight's having difficulty with his days. His listing starts off with: "This car has to be driven to be appreciated. Call Yesterday for a test drive."

Thanks for posting this up. The status of this car has been eating at me.
I always have a hard time understanding why people neglect cars like this
Possible it could be a flood car from Sandy

Yet.. if it was a 356 Cab it would be a $60K car, even in current (Driver) condition!

Sure its a project/parts car.. thats why its only asking $13K.. not $20K

Usually its either the really poor, lazy or rich that ignore it.. To them its "just a car". IN 1989, in high school a classmate had an '83 911SC cab. Rear window ripped/ failed.. car sat out year round.. for him and his family, at just 6 years old, it was just "an old convertible".. thats all.

Sounds like my "new" '73 Mercedes 280SE 4.5....it was like a compost heap under the hood, pine needles everywhere....yeesh. Of course I only paid $500 for it.... This car was the guys father's car and it "broke his heart" to see it that way (even though he let it sit out for years and grow moss, yes moss, on the window sills)...I'm always amazed at the way people treat great old cars. My wife even looked at it and said "we have to save it".
