The Porsche 930 Turbo was given substantial changes for the 1978 model year. A new 3.3L version of the turbo engine was introduced that gave 265hp in North America spec with the addition of an air-to-air intercooler and a 7.0:1 compression ratio. A new rear spoiler, known as the 'tea tray' replacing the 'whale tale' was also added providing considerably more downforce at high speeds. 0-60mph was now available in 5.0 sec., 0-100 in 11.9sec, and a top speed of over 160mph. Also tires were widened and larger brakes that were developed for the 917 race car, and were shown on the 1975 prototype, greatly improving the stopping power. This revised and improved Porsche Turbo car went to model year 1979 and then discontinued for the North America Market until 1986 due to EPA regulations. The early Porsche Turbos are in high demand for collectors and welcomed in all major concours throughout the world.
This particular Turbo on offer is a USA delivered car new to Rusnak Porsche-Audi in Pasadena, Ca. The first owner was a Dr. Jerry Malleus who lived in S. California. He maintained the car to perfection for nearly 16 years driving the car for only 3,125 miles! The car sold to another Porsche aficionado who lived in Spokane, Wa. He retained the car for 4 years and then sold it in August of 1998 showing just over 8,400 miles to the last and final owner who resides in Washington State. This owner showed the car in numerous PCA Concours and provided lavish care for the next 16 years driving the car for only additional 2,165 miles! He kept the car in a climate controlled garage and took loving care of the car which is in evidence of the car and its condition today.
Paint and Interior are as new and the only modifications to the car were the removal of the USA thermal reactors (included in the sale of the car) and the period popular polishing of all four wheels on the car. Showing absolutely no signs of any accident damage the car is still prepared for National level concours or spirited driving.
Original C.O.A. and all paperwork/service records accompany the sale of the car including a copy of the original window sticker. A full service is in the process at the local Authorized Porsche Dealership here in Carmel so the car needs nothing other than a new and spirited owner.
Finding low mileage original Porsches, especially Turbo Porsches, is becoming more and more difficult so therefore being in very high demand for collectors and enthusiasts around the world. They are now eligible and welcome in the majority of all concours events internationally.
Please contact me for further information regarding the purchase. I look forward in hearing from you.

Whereas if some really knew/know what you're looking at, the pedals, seats, and certain other chassis aspects often speak to 60k or above!

It still holds true, and will only get worse wit the run-up, yet I'm totally amazed at what many miss.

I'm just say'n..

There is probably quite a bit of odometer fraud involved, but it also seems very common for genuine freaks of nature to purchase these cars just so that they can say they own(ed) one, and do not drive them . . . some kind of shortcomings compensation I suppose.

Agree with you Ronnie. However, those "genuine freaks of nature" are more of a newer phenomenon vs. the age of these cars.. most of these from the 70's & 80's were driven with much regularity, with your true garage queens scattered here and about. I say this based on the number and frequency of 930's that I've seen over the years at various events, and just moving around on a daily basis through the 80's and 90's. Mind you, they were never just cheap used Porsches.. they always commanded a higher price than the average 911 unless it had major issues.

Again, when most, especially the 2nd and 3rd owners got their hands on these cars, they were like teenagers with their first piece of azz.. just couldn't stay outta that thang! Ran the miles up, and maybe later sold due to life changes or whatever.. and now after changing hands before the air-cooled run-up they suddenly reappear with less mileage after several years rest?

Whether the miles are real or not...$295k is surely a stretch(or absurd)...heck I hope they get 2/3 of their asking price. Seriously these asking prices are incredible...now the true test will be to see how many actually sell....hey for every seat there's an arse..

$295k is not as far out there as one would imagine, there was very similar car that changes hands a while back for $250k, went to a very prominent collector.

Other than the 85 MPH speedo missing, where are the plastic gloves and tire bag that are on top of the inflatable spare tire and where is the white tire pump that came in the box that is not in the trunk photo's? maybe there but I missed them. This car had 29K miles when i sold it a few years ago. I still have a 79 930 ( 33K miles ) with the air pump in the original black with yellow lettering box. I think I would include photos these items if I were selling such a superb example car. Still looks very nice though and believable miles with the red dot still on the brake pedal. They do get some really nice low miles cars and i'd be surprised if it does not sell, if not before, but will after the upcoming auction results. The under 200 mile one with rare sunroof delete, that is going to be interesting to find out ( Over 4 or 5 anyone?). If i was going to spend 3 for a low mile sunroof one why not pony up for the rarest of the two being offered of the last 50, both at the same dealer. Unrepeatable opportunity if that's your thing. No affiliation
