Prices of early 911 (1965)

Hello,

I am planning to buy an early 911 in the near future, but I am totally confused about the price gaps. Sure, 1964 are more than rare and due to this expensive. But what about the 1965īs? I have seen cars offered for over 100k, is this realistic? Is it important if it is an early or late 65?

Thanks, regards Malte

No answers sound like these cars are really rare...
Does maybe anyone know of 911s from 1965 which are for sale at the moment? In germany I see 3 for sale right now. 2 of them are race cars...

early 911

Try posting on the early s registry. Pictures, general description or any information would help with a potential value.
Good luck

1965s can run $50 to over $100K depending on a LOT of questions. And yes, the very early '65s will bring far more money.

You're looking for:

1.) original drivetrain with Solexes on the engine or included

2.) minimal rust

3.) original body components

4.) no color change

Hello Plumber and Techweenie,

thank you for your answers! I donīt have a car yet. Also none that I am looking for. I am trying to understand the marked, that why I strted this post.

I have a 1965 engine case (number 406). That is why I started looking for a 1965 car. Most cars I saw had a non matching engine.
At the time I have one I will put the Vin in here and ask for your opinion again!

Engine number is 900506 which from what I know is the 406th build. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I started a little database for this stuff...

You can see, the numbers 'bounce' a bit between chassis and engines...

Just be sure you don't pay 1965 money for a 1966 model year car. People love to sell a car as a '65 by quoting the date of manufacture. If it's August or later of '65, it was a '66 model, which will be worth far less money. - Matt
